"Sky Sports understands Ipswich are weighing up a move for Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach. Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is thought to be in the market for a new keeper and Loach figures highly on his wanted list. Loach lost his place in the Hornets side at the back end of last season, following the loan arrival of Tomasz Kuszczak. The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers outside the Premier League with his talent seeing him included in two senior England squads in 2010. A number of clubs are thought to be keeping tabs on Loach's situation at Vicarage Road, with Watford believed to be willing to listen to offers for the former England Under-21 international." Not exactly a new rumour as Jewell must have been linked to most keepers in the country by now.
Seeing as Sir Phillip Green was mentioned by harrow, I see that his involvement with Watford is official. Sir Philip Green is a big football fan and a Tottenham Hotspur supporter.[18] In 1987 he suggested to Irving Scholar, the Spurs Chairman, that Tony Berry be appointed to the board.[19] In 1991 he helped Terry Venables raise the last £500,000 needed to purchase shares in the club.[19] He was also involved in the transfers of Rio Ferdinand from Leeds United and Louis Saha from Fulham to Manchester United.[19] He is heavily involved with Everton Football Club due to his friendship with chairman Bill Kenwright, but has no intention of formally investing in the club.[20] He arranged for another friend, Planet Hollywood's owner Robert Earle to purchase shares from former director Paul Gregg during a struggle for control of Everton in 2004.[21] He offers business advice to the club alongside Tesco CEO Terry Leahy and helps negotiates player transfer fees with agents.[22] Sir Phillip is also involved with Watford due to his friendship with Watford chairman L. Bassini. He is due to help them redevelop Vicarage Road Stadium.
You may well be onto something there Frenchie ,Harrow opens up the who is Baz fronting for debate again
I don't think there is anything new in the Phillip Green thing as Baz told us that he was looking into building a hotel on site. By the way I had a text this morning from O2 telling me that if I was quick off the mark I could get a free pair of jubilee flip flops from BHS.
My contact (to use your phrase) told me when Baz first came that he was acting alone. He still maintains that, and i believe him. If he wasn't, i wouldn't be half as worried as i am!

01 Jun 2012 13:44:28 Tomasz Kuszczak about to sign for Watford FC...He loved his few months there on loan and wife is happy to move to Berkhamstead Also been guaranteed No 1 position for 3 years. Loach will look to leave so want this to be true
H, say TK (or someone else - if we can't get TK, I wouldn't mind having Jussi Jaaskelainen as he's been released by Bolton) does come in and SL leaves, we'd have TK as first choice and Bond on the bench. One of them gets injured in training or pre-season, it would mean we'd have Bonham on the bench - can we really take the risk? I know we could get an emergency loan but unless it's a youngster who's going to loan out a keeper at that stage of the season?
Good point Barry maybe we need 2 keepers and fairly quickly too so they can get a working relationship with the defence minus Mapps of course
NNW, I wasn't aware of that until after I'd done the post, but the general idea stands - a keeper that we know has been reliable with all parts of his game for a long period of time.
It's a fair point Barry. David James is old enough to be Scott's dad, which just underlines how long he has left.
Do these two bits from Kevin Affleck make things clearer? Kevin Affleck‏@affers1178 @dynamo380 Not had time to make calls. Its an ongoing situation. Buyer in place. Down to LB / Andy Wilson if takeover is smooth or hostile Kevin Affleck‏@affers1178 @AndyGiBBo Prospective buyer has football pedigree, has met representatives of the club and LB is acutely aware of his intention. If you go down the hostile bid route, then Baz trying to get his money together and saying he will start the SW corner does make sense.
