I don't think we are penny pinching, just buying wisely.
Really cant see the point of paying bucket loads of money for players that aren't worth it.
We have done it before and look at the mess it caused.
I trust Dick to do well in the market and pay realistic prices for realistic players....hopefully :emoticon-0142-happy

Mr short has been penny pinching the last 3 to 4 years tho. People bang on about how much we spent on Fletcher, rodwell and so on but when you look at when Mr short took control in 2009 we haven't spent loads when you look at the ins and outs pal.

Appreciate he has to spend the money to improve us as a team but at the same time not spending over the odds on players who's clubs value them above what they are actually worth.
Its easy for us to say he is tight but its his money and with Dick I think he is looking at getting value without being ripped off like previous managers.

I think most teams will have to spend a extra couple of million on players this summer because foreign teams no prem teams have money.

Anyway hopefully Dick gets the players he wants and I will shut the **** up

totally agree that the selling clubs hold the upper hand but so long as we don't go daft and get the players we need to take us to "the next level" then i'll be happy, just gotta wait and see mate.

Everton winger Aiden McGeady has emerged as a possible summer transfer target for Premier League rivals Sunderland. Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat is aiming to improve his squad significantly this summer and had targeted West Ham's Stewart Downing as he looks for new wide men. However, Downing is expected to return to Middlesbrough in a £6m move so the Dutch coach is looking elsewhere for new signings and is interested in Republic of Ireland star McGeady. The 29-year-old's chances of regular first-team football at Everton this season could be blocked by the arrival of Gerard Deulofeu at Goodison Park from Barcelona and the former Celtic man could be deemed surplus to requirements by Blues boss Roberto Martinez. McGeady often had to settle for a place on the bench last term and may decide a move to the Stadium of Light is a good option at this stage in his career. He still has three years left on his Everton contract but could be available for around £5million - a figure Sunderland may well be prepared to pay.

He'd be a snip at £5million I think. Would love to see him here.

Not sure about this lad. Lots of flash footwork but the end product is often poor. I wish we had the likes of Deulofeu to consider, he is top class

I don't fancy McGeady at our place. We've been linked with him on and off since O'Neil took charge. Everton bit the bullet and brought him back from Russia, but I don't think he's done too well there.
