We give youth a chance. Always have. Around 4000 games where a product/member of the United academy has featured in the first team squad. On only one of those occasions did a player not feature in the 11 but academy products were on the bench.

Our record and history with youth is amongst the best in football and not up for debate. Others are playing catch up.

How many great players have come through your youth system since the 90s?

How many this decade for example?

Any player who plays first team for any top division side and has more than 10 caps for their national team is a good product of a youth team. Any player who reaches this level has done well and better than 99% of potential footballers ever do.

So on that point. Loads have come through ours.

United, to be fair to them, have produced numerous greats through their youth systems. You won't find many other clubs that have and Chelsea have only been a force on the world stage for the past 10 years or so with an owner who fires anyone who dares to do even slightly poorly.

Its good that there's at least an interest in putting that right now. Be interesting to see what is produced going forward.
