How many great players have come through your youth system since the 90s? How many this decade for example?
He only played three games for you, but fair enough, you developed him I guess. And which great players did you produce out of your academy in the 00s?
Great by who's standards? Compared with Chelsea, many greats. How many have come through yours since 1905?
Any player who plays first team for any top division side and has more than 10 caps for their national team is a good product of a youth team. Any player who reaches this level has done well and better than 99% of potential footballers ever do. So on that point. Loads have come through ours.
United, to be fair to them, have produced numerous greats through their youth systems. You won't find many other clubs that have and Chelsea have only been a force on the world stage for the past 10 years or so with an owner who fires anyone who dares to do even slightly poorly.
Its good that there's at least an interest in putting that right now. Be interesting to see what is produced going forward.
That`s what I mean by next season being a pointer. Ake and Zouma should really be getting quite a bit of game time now.
