I am surprised how anyone missed the point tbh. There is no doubt United fans have every right to be confident based on our recent performances.
The performance backed up with the stats and the fact chelsea had just 20 minutes on top all game (just after half time) will do for me. Its what you call 'conclusive'
Lets be honest if Chelsea hadn't started playing anti-football they would have smashed you in the 2nd half. Until the changes they had you well and truly on the ropes - you could hardly touch the ball. Mourinho was a muppet and he's done it twice now, and ****ed up both times. 25 minutes to go and he parks a big **** off blue bus So rather than you earning a draw it was more like Chelsea throwing away a win But I do admire everyone's delusion/optimism!
You can see the players getting comfortable and tye fact players we are seeing only now fit in right away. Whatever his instructions on the training pitch are, it's working. When those goals come, and they will come in buckets, i can see us hammering sides. Until then, some brilliant football can be enjoyed. Hopefully the results too.
Not at all mate. We created plenty and were hardly troubled at all from them in open play. They scored from a set piece, as did we. But from open play we created so much more. Out of the two defences, considering the shambles we've been at the back earlier in the season, we held our own against arguably the best attack in the league. On top of that players such as Shaw and Januzaj have had their best performances in their last two games. In terms of talking about performance, there's a bit more depth to it than the simple "ah they would have smashed you had Jose not parked the bus" something that you can't prove based on what actually happened up to that point.
Really you weren't mate. First half was even but the second half Chelsea dominated and deservedly took the lead. Fair play for sticking at it and grabbing a leveller at the death, but you were hardly peppering their goal in the last 15. That said, it was the best performance I've seen from United this season so I can understand the reason you all fell positive about it
I obviously disagree as first half we were well on top. Unlucky not to be a goal up. Second half chelsea had a really strong 20 minute spell. Looked good and deserved the goal. We didnt create much but we started to turn the screw the last ten minutes. I felt we just needed one clear chance and we would score. We did. Im not saying we were miles better. Just edged it overall. Deserved at least a point.
I wouldn't argue that you weren't worth a point, but I didn't see you as the better side. Don't forget they were missing the lethal Costa btw, who destroyed us at Goodison, different class him at present, love him.
True enough but we were missing rooney and falcao. Also herrera so i think they more than cancel out costa not playing.
Far too sensible, just put it simply, was our performance good enough to get us top 4 instead of Liverpool?
Sunday night someone on the Chelsea board stated we would have had no chance if Costa played, i asked what difference he would have made since they created nothing. I am still waiting for a reply, perhaps you can tell me what he would have done with no service from midfield?
Who do you see playing against City, Herrera or Fellaini? Herrera has been my star man all season but Fellaini has been a real pest in the last two games (not to mention a goal threat). I think against powerful midfields LVG will go with Fellaini for a while or drop a winger (Adnan) and play both.
That comment about Costa can only have come from someone who has absolutely no clue about what they're watching. Chelsea created very little, we had far more chances. If anything we missed Rooney/Falcao more than they missed Costa as grandad should have put away more chances!
Costa's presence would have given the midfield - notably Fabregas a different kind of target, he's all about movement and getting in behind, as opposed to the more static Drogba. He plays off the shoulder and has already formed a lethal combination with Fabregas. So their play would have differed is the answer.
