Car crash ? I thought a plank of wood hit him on the head during a storm ?

Edit : seems he was driving a car at the time the wood went through the windscreen. Thanks Beth.

Never heard the peado reference though
It was during the "michael fish" storm....1987 i think.....any way RIP

Was Kaye perhaps named by "Nick" in his Dolphin Square fantasy? There were plenty on the list, although apparently police immediately discounted Joan of Arc and Charles I as they weren't around at the time

Are you sure about that Aussie? I've never heard anything like that pertaining to Gorden Kaye.

I will try and find the details on him.
I still remember my mother telling me about him and the piece about him clearly stating that he had a penchant for young boys.
It was on the news.

He was a gay man,and may well have slept with a few young men. But I'm pretty sure none of them were ever under the legal age. Too easy to stigmatise and point the finger I'm afraid,i never heard of anything to infer that he was a *****phile. More disgusting to me, was the scumbag from The Sunday Sport. Hours after recovering from brain surgery, the reporter (who claimed to be a doctor) took photos of Kaye's injuries and interviewed him. Years later Kaye sued in court and lost,a disgraceful verdict in my eyes. Unless something comes to light, for now I know which of these 2 characters I will hold in disdain !

Trust me my friend, whether he was gay is irrelevant to me. I work on the theory that we all different choices but as lonf as were talking about 'adult' choices, I'm ok with it.

I know what l heard / read, and it wasn't 'adult choices' ................ it was a minor ............. and that to me, is disgraceful.
I'm not one to make a big deal out of something but l know what l read / heard, and it's not right, hence, my reaction.

If the likes of the Sun in reporting his death haven't alluded to what you say, and a google search on him yields nothing on the allegation, then the possibility arises that it may have been something you heard, or even that it's a case of mistaken identity.

US Emmy award-winning actress Mary Tyler Moore has died aged 80, her publicist says.
She was best known for her television roles in the 1960s sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show and the eponymous The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s.
She was also nominated for a best actress Oscar in 1980 for the film Ordinary People.
Mara Buxbaum said in a statement she died in the company of friends and her husband, Dr S. Robert Levine.

Makes me feel quite old when my childhood crushes are snuffing it.

Re Gordon Kaye, just watched an old episode of 'Allo Allo on Beeb 1 shown as a tribute, still very funny after all these years but then it was written by the comedy writing geniuses Messrs Croft & Perry.......

Aussie, I get the feeling that it may be a case of mistaken identity on your part as others have said there is nothing to that effect online, or in the press when reporting his death, as I'm sure there would have been if it were so.......

Just watched that too, Tramore (yes, I found it funny too), and thought that there would be no way they would show that if there was even a sniff of scandal surrounding his personal life - can only surmise Aussie has his wires crossed on this one....

I do agree but I also remember the gushing tributes that were shown to Jimmy Saville on TV just after his death....I hope Aussie's wrong but am looking on with interest.
