A few years after Lockerbie I was a security officer, part of my job was working on the x-ray machine screening all the bags. We had been advised that one of the victims father was flying out that night. He thanked us all saying his daughter and the rest of those passengers may have been saved had they had the same level of security. I'm pretty sure it was Doctor Swire mentioned in the article. On a night out with pals, one of them is was based in Edinburgh with Royal Highland Fusiliers at the time, and he was sent down with his unit to secure the area after the crash, and is headed to a memorial in Lockerbie on Friday...he's still quite emotional about the whole event
