Didn't realise that was the name of his show. Fate and tempt come to mind. I think it comes from an incident when Gest was in Big Brother recently, when Angie Bowie heard about the death of her ex-husband and told some dumb BB inmate that "David is dead". David Gest was in another room lying down at the time, and the dumb inmate went around screaming that the wrong David was dead...

Sorry to hear it anyway. I was always interested to hear his stories of showbusiness even if I'm sure they were exaggerated. Gest seemed an intelligent and peaceful soul. RIP

Gareth Thomas, star of cult 70s sci-fi show Blake's 7, has passed away. He played Roj Blake, the lead character.

When I was growing up, tv sci-fi shows were all cool. Blakes 7, The Tomorrow People, Space:1999, Star Trek, all looked great and had kick-ass characters and soundtracks. Blakes 7 was probably the darkest of the bunch, and was a particular favourite.

    RIP

I really enjoyed Blake's 7 when I was younger, the sparing between Blake and Avon was mesmerising. All those wobbly sets lol, sadly from another era, dood old days !Seems to be all my childhood favourites are passing away at an alarming rate of knots. R.I.P. Gareth.

Loved Blake's7. It was BBC equal to Star Wars without the actors/effects/budget/script......
The first few episodes were fab and they should have kept the format instead of going all "The Tomorrow People meets DR Who". That stupid, rushed ending was a disaster by the BBC and i never trusted them with Sci-Fi again after that. It was a shame that all the actors sounded as if they had come straight from the RSC, which they did. The character of 'Avon' wouldn't have looked out of place in a 1970's National Theatre production of Hamlet.
However, as a kid, it was a fab show to watch. I saw a recent interview with Gareth Thomas discussing the show and laughing at how crap the sets/dialogue/costumes were. Still a sad loss. RIP

Oh no, this one's one of the saddest of all for me...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36094827

Comedian, musician and writer Victoria Wood has died aged 62, after a short battle against cancer.

She was a genius in a world where such a word can't be applied that often. Her stand up, her comedy characters, her sitcoms, her sheer love of the stage, and her ability to make a one-liner funnier than a whole series of French and Saunders, means she'll really be missed in this household.

RIP Victoria, you were a good 'un and no mistake.

...and at only 62. I remember seeing her at the King's Head theatre pub in Upper Street, Islington in 1980. She was appearing with her then husband, Geoffrey Durham, who was in his guise as the magician, the Great Soprendo. Durham made me nervous - he was picking people out of the audience and making them look like plonkers. Then Victoria came on. Intelligent, observant, gentle humour - she had the audience eating out of her hand

This year, I feel my past is disappearing like sand from under my feet

    RIP Victoria Wood <rose>

Why is it that Ricky "unfunny" Gervais is the first to comment on twitter to these sad deaths?

Suspicions confirmed. The BBC has broadcast twice as many 'celebrity' obituaries this year than in the same period last year.

Apparently Prince is now dead. Never much a fan but a shame nonetheless. What a truly shocking year for celeb deaths.
