Saw him with The Beat at a festival a few months before he passed away, it was pre-Covid I'm sure.

Another great loss. The silent icon. A guy who loved to be upfront writing and singing yet didn’t revel in the limelight of success.
All those personal struggles make/made him who he was, and he used them to create incredible soundtracks to our lives. RIP Terry <rose>

While we’re here RIP to the Mayfair as well. Was up in Toon last week and walked past where it used to be in Newgate St. Now a shopping centre. A perfect size 1500-2000 capacity place, strange shape with the stage on the ‘long’ side of a rectangular space. Always reminded me of the tragically departed Hammersmith Palais for some reason.

Just about to get on the treadmill accompanied by the Specials. ****, this one hurts.

Just took the young ‘uns for their haircut and proud they asked for The Specials to be played in the car.
Had a good sing-song to “Monkey Man” and “Message to you, Rudy”…..uplifted my somewhat bad mood this morning

A Glaswegian chef credited with inventing the chicken tikka masala has died, aged 77.

Ali Ahmed Aslam is said to have come up with the dish in the 1970s when a customer asked if there was a way of making his chicken tikka less dry.

His solution was to add a creamy tomato sauce, in some versions of the story a can of tomato soup.

His death was announced by his Shish Mahal restaurant which closed for 48 hours as a mark of respect.

Known to friends and customers as "Mr Ali" he was born in Pakistan but moved with his family to Glasgow as a young boy before opening Shish Mahal in Glasgow's west end in 1964.

    RIP <rose>

RIP George, forever a hero for 66. A seriously underrated defender, who George Best said was the best right back he ever faced. Sad that only 2 of the boys remain alive !

In addition, there are only 2 other members of the 1966 squad who are alive - Ian Callaghan and Terry Paine
