Just watched the first episode (of 3) of Evacuation on Channel 4, about the British armed forces role in the evacuation of Kabul as the Taliban were taking power.
Very interesting and somewhat exciting but also very sad, worth watching
Brutal and fascinating all at the same time. What the lads and lasses of our forces saw in that withdrawal will stay with them forever. Watching seasoned veterans struggle to comprehend the horrors they saw is bad enough, but the younger ones will have nightmares for years.
Suprisingly enough, no politicians interviewed for the program - they wouldn't have come out looking anything less than the ****s they are. What a clusterfuck of an op

Guy Pearce is a sensational actor.Just finished watching A Spy Among Friends, the ITV production of the story of Kim Philby and Nicholas Elliot. The story itself is well-known, but the superb acting by Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis plus the wonderful evocation of London in the late fifties make it hugely enjoyable. Ostensibly It's about spies, but it's really about friendship.
If I had to choose between betraying my country and betraying my friend, I hope I should have the guts to betray my country.
