Just finished watching A Spy Among Friends, the ITV production of the story of Kim Philby and Nicholas Elliot. The story itself is well-known, but the superb acting by Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis plus the wonderful evocation of London in the late fifties make it hugely enjoyable. Ostensibly It's about spies, but it's really about friendship. If I had to choose between betraying my country and betraying my friend, I hope I should have the guts to betray my country.
