This might be the wrong thread but I see that BBC Alba is showing the first series of the magnificent Borgen at 10pm on Friday nights......... Possibly one of the first Scandi series to make it big in the UK...... still good after all these years and off course there's the lovely Sidse Babett Knudsen in the lead role....

They show some good stuff on Alba, if you can deal with the gaelic!

BST Hyde Park (ongoing). Nile Rodgers, outstanding, he could make the national
anthem funky, 90 minutes of solid hits with a great band. 60,000 people dancing. Duran Duran (on now) really can’t compare, even when he joined them for a couple of songs.
But Simon le Bon’s voice is actually better than I remember and they are giving a good show.

Prices similar to the Glasgow version. Not really my type of thing but a good day out, roasting when we arrived, comfortable now.

Remarkable that of the four remaining members of Duran Duran none have lost a single hair from their heads and there is not a hint of grey…..

…also I don’t think my presence has raised the average age of the audience significantly.

Enjoy the rest of the evening.....we were definately in the minority age-wise last night, and felt over dressed in t-shirt and shorts....

Who knew Saga did festivals :emoticon-0102-bigsm

50th anniversary edition of I’m Sorry I haven’t a Clue is on Radio 4. Still funny despite many of the key participants of previous years being dead - Humphrey Littleton, Tim Brooke Taylor, Jeremy Hardy, Barry Cryer ……only Graeme Garden still around from the 70s. I love stupidity for it’s own sake, and this delivers by the bucket load.

Reviews requested. I find myself facing the prospect of being with a laptop for the first time for decades in a couple of weeks, when I hand the work one back.

Not sure I need one as a pensioner, but might be handy. Don’t want to spend a fortune (which rules out Apple products). Does anyone have any suggestions. Any experience with Chromebook - decent option?

Cheers

I have a Panasonic CF-52 runnibg Windows 10 (which I don't like, but Windows 7 has no support anymore) but don't think it'd be ideal for you as it's ruggedised, waterproof and probably a bit heavy for you retirees :emoticon-0136-giggl

I've bought a few refurb laptops over the years, and if you're not bothered by some minor cosmetic damage to the outer case you can get some really good deals on high end, top spec machines, including MacBooks.

Good version of Gloria from Patti?

Not sure what John Cale actually plays. He must be ancient.

She was great, still has a really strong voice. The festival is a draw for the activist crowd, and she didn't disapppoint with some anti-government, anti-corporation sloganeering.

Good concert programme on Sky Arts - Madness with early songs played recently at the Electric Ballroom and the Roundhouse, with a bit of rehearsal chat thrown in too. If I could see them in places this size I’d pay the prices they are asking for gigs in mega barn like places which are all wrong for this band.

Nothing better than the original Madstock in Finsbury Park with Ian Dury and Aswad playing too plus others. Absolutely jammed and place was jumping, superb live as was Dury who's energy considering his condition was quite incredible. Happy days

Came across Ticketmasters' new Dynamic Pricing yesterday....Mrs Steels was looking at Bruce Springsteen tickets and for standard standing tickets they were charging £500 - WTF! A look around the website, some seats were getting close to a grand. This wasn't just for here either, had a look at his Villa Park gig prices, similar. It's terrible. Apparently Ticketmaster can change the pricing of some high-demand artists, alledgedly to "scare off" touts - it's a disgrace. We bought tickets recently for Paolo Nutini, I had pre-sale as I'd bought the new album. Our friend went to buy them and the only tickets she could've got were the platinum hotel package at five times the price we paid - Ticketmaster are ****s!

I read about this in the paper a couple of days ago. It’s completely disgusting. Also read Steve van Zandt washing his hands of the whole thing ‘it’s got nothing to do with me’ and Springsteen not even commenting - in the US tickets have been ‘dynamically priced’ up to $5k. So much for blue collar rock.

That’s ****ing crazy. Rip-off merchants. I was only saying to the other half I’d like to experience Bruce live, can’t say I’m a die-hard fan but I’ve heard so much about his live gigs I wanted to give it a go, and it felt like he would be putting in a tour next year. But £450-500 a ticket is just a total rip-off of fans and music lovers. Sorry, but that is completely beyond sensible. I’ll give it a miss if that’s what’s on offer. There’s a LOT of good gigs in £450-500!
