As I am wandering around fields and woods and could not be bothered to carry an Ordnance Survey map with me, I downloaded the OS App. It’s really good, all the different scale maps in full and a marker to show exactly where you are, miles off road. I’m pretty good at knowing where I am in cities (except Birmingham where I get very disoriented for some reason) but am useless in the middle of a field or a wood.
I was only going to keep the app for the 2 weeks free trial period, but it’s so good I’ll stump up the £25.00 for an annual subscription. Given that it’s about £9.00 for a single paper map that’s a pretty good deal.

It's a long trip, even for me (six hours drive to Ullapool, then a two and a half hour ferry to Stornoway), but if any of you get the chance, it's an amazing island to visit (although they still have some strange laws, especially on Sundays - and they all speak Gaelic). Highly recommended for a trip.

Got back from Monmouthshire today. I’d move to the countryside there, with country walks from the front door and preferably a decent boozer within walking distance, without a second thought.
Bath stuff!.
I'm in the bath and find that I'm out of my regular shampoo, so I have to hunt through the dozens of bottles to find an alternative. I find a likely-looking bottle and check the label - 'Moonlit Skies', which doesn't really give me much of a clue as to whether it's shampoo, soap or 'body scrub'. There's some smaller writing underneath, which I try to decipher (without my glasses, of course) and decide that it probably says 'with conditioner' and it's therefore shampoo. Only after getting out of the bath and putting my glasses on do I realise that 'With Conditioner' was actually 'White Cashmere' and I've washed my hair in 'Bath Soak'.
Why the **** can't they give more of a clue as to what the hell is in the bottle? 'Moonlit Skies, White Cashmere' for ****'s sake! At least 'Head and Shoulders' tells a story.

Good job it wasn't Immac, that would've been a funnier tale. Regarding shampoos, soaps and conditioners, aren't they all made from the same basic ingredients? They're detergents. I'm sure I heard this mentioned on James O'Brien's LBC Q&A show a few years ago. The only variables are a few poncey ingredients to make them sound fanciable.
You're probably right. I was just looking for some satisfying suds, but this was like pouring milk on my head.
I was told about someone when I was at university who used Fairy Liquid for all of her hair and body cleansing requirements.
Not sure if she did the dishes at the same time.
I stumbled across a TV show I've never heard of a few weeks ago. I had the TV on silent whilst I was researching and reciting my knowledge on British Monarchs when I saw the guy from Benidorm and The League of Gentleman ( Steve Pemberton ) kissing and cuddling a woman on a bed. The next thing I see is that he is at a window and suddenly he is shot through the forehead.
' Well that's a bit dramatic' I thought.
Anyway, I rewound it and watched it and was thirty minutes of sheer joy. It was a show entitled ' Inside No 9 ' and it was like watching a film condensed into a half hour. Genius. And then I discovered that this was series six and that I had another five plus to watch.
It's also written alongside Pemberton with Reece Shearsmith who are comedy/macabre geniuses.

The incredible quality these blokes have maintained over these series is amazing. I can’t remember a bad one and some are off the scale genius. ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ on acid.
Lucky man Ninesy, you've got a lot of enjoyment ahead. These two are geniuses.
I'm absolutely loving it. The one where the couple move into the discounted flat and David shows up and tells the the tale of his mum Maureen is a particular favourite. When they break out to dance to Soulja Boy Tell'em, Crank That is one of my favourites, and there's a podcast on BBC Sounds to accompany series 5 & 6. Wonderful!
Err, forget at the "Inside no 9" stuff (shame on you for missing this classic), but let's rewind......research and reciting British Monarchs? A wee trip to Mastermind in the offing Mr 9s?
