That’s the Madness one. Couldn’t justify the ludicrous price to see them in a huge venue. Figure the Specials in Cov should be decent, even if it is a stadium. Though my lad informs me that there are a couple of huge halls at the Ricoh as well.
Came onto the thread to sing the praise of Clarkson's Farm and went back a page to check if anyone else had already said anything. Good fun, isn't it? I'm not a huge Clarkson fan but this show strikes a brilliant balance of being informative, funny and interesting. 9s - the Starkey (I know, I know) book on the UK monarchy is very readable. If any of you enjoy historical fiction, check out the Shardlake series of novels by CJ Sansom. Superb books.
Feedback from the boy, who rolled up at home at 7:00 this morning (it’s best not to ask…..) is that Pete was ‘genius’. And from the couple of clips he recorded on his phone it did look very good indeed, just Doherty and his guitar in the cathedral, in excellent voice. He wasn’t supposed to play Libertines stuff because the band is on tonight, but he did anyway.
I've read a couple of those and quite enjoyed them. I"m a big fan of Bernard Cornwells' books, The Last Kingdom series and the King Arthur ones were brilliant.
You’re not the first who has raved about Clarkson’s Farm and I would probably have watched it…..However I really cant overcome my absolute hate for the prick and vow never to watch anything he stars in. Having crossed paths with this odious individual a few times I can honestly say he is a vile, condescending scumbag who revels in his ability to bully, talk down to and belittle anyone who happens to be in his vicinity. Along with RG (who I’ve mentioned before as being another vile excuse for a human being), 2 of my most detested celebrities.
I met Clarkson about 10 years ago briefly at a charity event. He was entirely charming. I guess different days and circumstances give rise to our impressions of people.

How come you hang around with Robson Green and Jeremy Clarkson so frequently? Was your experience when they had lost their baggage at Heathrow? You are going to see the worst of a lot of people in those circumstances, though that’s no excuse for bad behaviour and I would expect frequent travellers to be more relaxed and understanding than novices, **** happens and it’s not the end of the world. I’m quite prepared to believe they are ****s though. They look the type.
Yes mate met them at the airport through work. Both didn’t have lost bags or even baggage problems but both ASSUMED they would have problems and started the micro aggressive behaviour and doing the ‘do you know who I am’ thing, more than once. Just came across as horrible bullies.
Idiots. Very quickly into two decades plus of flying far too much for work I relaxed into understanding that flying is incredibly complicated logistically and it’s a miracle things don’t go madly wrong more often. If you are chilled and polite, kind of resigned, people do stuff for you. Several times I’ve been told that a flight has been cancelled for whatever reason, shrugged and smiled and said I’ll be over there if anything changes, and a couple of minutes later an airline person has called me to the desk to offer me an alternative, I’m sure because I haven’t screamed or shouted at them. Likewise with bags. If they are lost they are lost. It’s irritating but not a disaster, especially if it’s on your trip home. But I suppose in most cases I’ve always known that the firm would pay for a hotel etc if needed, and usually all I’ve missed is work. With the likes of Clarkson and Green I would have been tempted to remark that ‘of course the real A listers have private charters and people to sort all this for them’.
You’ve got it spot on mate….I would do anything for passengers if they were nice…gone out of my way to find their bags and even delivered them myself…I definitely would say if you treat people with respect you get far better service and the outcome is usually far more favourable.
I had an unusual experience today, which I feel the need to share. It involved having a man I'd never met before rub jelly on my balls. I've been having a kind of dull pain in the groin area for some time, centred on my left testicle - a feeling like someone had recently kicked me in the bollocks. Having been examined by my (female) GP, it was suggested that an Ultrasound examination might be useful. So that's where I was today. The ultrasound practitioner was a very friendly chap who introduced himself before handing me some tissues and asking me to lie on a bed and pull my trousers and underpants down to my knees. 'Right, willy on the belly please!' 'What?' 'Willy on the belly and hold it with the tissues, please' 'Oh, right.' This is where the jelly-rubbing came in, followed by the slow gentle movement of the scanner across my genitals. It could all have been quite arousing in different circumstances. 'Willy on the belly' is now my catchphrase.
It may be novel to you, Strolls, but spare a thought for the poor ultrasounder that has to use the phrase every half hour for the rest of his career...
There's a show on BBC2 called 'I'll Get This', a mildly amusing format where celebrities play games at the dinner table to see who will have to pick up the bill for the meal they're sharing. Generally harmless stuff, but tonight's group includes one Harry Redknapp. Excruciating.
Saw that one … he’s a complete social whore now. Seems to be more rewarding than ruining football clubs for a ‘living’.
