Here is a good example of why you shouldn’t simply accept all the drivel you’re given by the media and so-called experts...

Yesterday there was a news item about a humpback whale in the Thames. The newsreader told us how it was being monitored by ‘experts’ and that its behaviour was ‘perfectly normal’.

Today it’s died and its body found out at Greenhithe.

Tits.

To be fair Ubs.....it probably was acting quite ‘normal’ until a bloody great ship ploughed into its back ;).

The ‘expert monitering’ probably could of been better though.

Is anyone else watching The Capture on BBC? Just watched episode two and I'm totally hooked and intrigued as to where it's heading. It has echoes of The Prisoner for me and I can't wait for episode three. The lead actor is great, too.

Well, what did you think? Kinda fizzled out and ended up a bit farcical and **** for me.....

I think I was bracing myself to be disappointed at the ending. The trick had been revealed halfway through. Still thought-provoking though, and better than any superhero ****.

Do you think/suspect that that sort of thing goes on? If so, the tricks been rumbled.....but if it does happen, would the forces that be have allowed it to be broadcast?

Marvel has definately run its course for me, it's become totally farcical. For DC, The Dark Knight films were brilliant though.

You'd enjoy Joker, and if you've never seen Logan then give that a go - definately superior story to the standard superhero ****.

I enjoyed The Boys on Amazon, anti-hero, with non-superheroes taking on the established "heroes" - dark and a bit twisted.

I certainly think that what they portrayed is a possibility. Always question what you are being told.

I really want to see Joker, my son saw it last week and said he almost applauded at the end. He didn't of course, because he's British. It's nothing to do with superheroes though surely?

No, as I said in my review last week, it's more about the unravelling of his mind without a BIFF, KAPOW or WOWZERS in sight!. I mentioned it as it takes part in Gotham. Phoenix is superb (isn't he always though?), and I enjoyed the film but it's not flawless. I hope there's a directors cut some day, parts of the film are a bit superficial, and an extra 30 minutes beefing out the supporting cast would have made a better all round story. It's still a very good film though

There are few pleasures left to man these days, but one has to be strolling through near-empty woodland with an obedient and clearly happy mutt by your side.

I guess it’s only a matter of times before doing so offends somebody. :)

Funny how as you get older things like walks around the lake with the kids just chatting are actually quite enjoyable......20 years ago I would of needed half a bottle of vodka and a gram of Mandy to have a good time :)

Enjoy Ubs!!

Ages ago on this thread I said I hoped they made a TV series of Phillip Pullmans' His Dark Materials (I think we were having a discussion about books that could make great TV). The woeful attempt of The Golden Compass probably put a lot of people off (certainly the movie industry as they never covered the second and third books). Anyway, tonight sees the premier of the BBC/HBO adaptation, the most expensive show BBC has ever commissioned! I'm really looking forward to it, and I've just recently re-read all three books.

Without letting too much on, it's a battle between science and religion, across parallel worlds (including our own, although this won't appear until season 2), with a young girl with the power to either save or destroy all these worlds.

I really hope it doesn't disappoint !!!
