I'm not really looking for rep but I have some questions about it.

What does rep do other than give you a pretty green bar under your name? I've been posting here for a while, not regularly (about a post per day) and bar a few generous donators, the only points I receive are 1 or 2 for replies. Does it mean anything in terms of posts? Or is it just vanity?

This rep power thing, what is it? Do your posts get more points/levels than others?

Why is half of the green bar dark green and the other lighter?

Was that I guess...? If so, it was a fairly reasonable one <laugh>
