Strong reports from the South American press that Maradonna has passed away with a heart attack.
If true, very sad. At a mere 60 he led life to the full.

Being reported all over now. Very sad to lose a footballer of his quality though I admit I loathed him in 1986. After the scare over his health a week or two back, I thought he was clear, but 2020 continues to deliver misery.
RIP

He said 7 years ago that his Cocaine addiction had aged him beyond his years. Plus his connections with the criminal fraternity somewhat damaged his status. But hey, I'm not perfect, so RIP mate, you were a great player.

Maradona was one of the greatest footballers in history.
But he destroyed himself, much as George Best did.

I hope Maradona has found peace now. His later life was far from happy, even if his troubles were self-inflicted.

RIP Doug Scott. Mountaineers are a breed apart. Scott's achievements are frightening. If you want to get a flavour of rock-climbing there's a film on Netflix called El Capitan which practically gave me a nervous breakdown watching it.

Have you watched Free Solo?

RIP Paolo Rossi. He helped ruin the '82 world Cup in Spain for me. After England beat France it was a gentle downward slide to elimination. However, I was enjoying the Brazilians sheer magic, until they ran into Italy and were eliminated - was it a 3-2 win? Rossi went on to be the top goal scorer in the tournament, though I don't think he ever quite hit those heights again. Great striker.

Only 64, far too young. Cause of death unknown.
