So here's my ideal solution. King Charles can go on calling himself King, but receives no government funding, must pay his own security, etc. And no longer has any official or unofficial powers.

He's got plenty of money to invest and live a wealthy lifestyle without syphoning off future funds from the public.

No president installed. Instead, House of Lords is renamed House of Lads and the current members kicked out. Members picked by sorti from all citizens with a clean criminal record who sign up, with a third being replaced each year.

House of Lads takes on current powers of Lords and the royal family's minimal powers. No president needed. Those whose voice is silenced by First Past the Post system in parliament get a voice in government.

Britain becomes a paradise on earth, even Hull turns into a picturesque resort town destination.

So you don't think any foreign tourists go to Buckingham Palace hoping they might just get a glimpse of a Royal? ... and you think I'm the naive one <laugh>

Try typing "where does the Queen live" in a search engine ... <doh>

I'm sure some hope to catch a glimpse. They don't come to England expecting to see her though. Certainly not enough to make a.difference.

As for where does the Queen live... Sorry to disappoint you but she's dead. The clue is in the thread title.

... and the sweeping assertion without any proof or foundation award goes to ...

I've heard plenty of Americans and indeed far Eastern tourists commenting about being envious of the UK having a monarchy etc... they don't just stumble across Buckingham Palace, the Tower, Balmoral etc due to dodgy sat-navs <laugh>
So they come for a chance, no matter how miniscule that chance is, you think they come to actually see the Queen.

<laugh><laugh>

Yet you post here all the time.......what factory do you work in

Not all the time Abe, I had almost a year away tbf.

I work mostly for myself, my avatar explains a part of that, so I don’t need to get the bus to a factory every day. Boring as **** really.

You don’t live here … so your solution is null and void from the off

I never said they came expecting ... but attempting to completely disassociate the Palace from its residents is just plain daft ... part of the attraction for the tourists is 'who' lives there ... it's not just afficionados of architecture or pure historians that come to have a gander ...

The thousands and thousands that will line the streets to pay respect over the coming days are obviously all sheeple or just plain stupid ... the clever people will sit safely closeted behind their closed doors in their David Icke tracksuits knowing that they won't be an entre on a lizard people's banquet. <laugh>

You’ll have no objection to paying my 24p as well as your own then, seeing as I am not overly keen on giving handouts to nonces.
Too late mate. You’ve paid it.
And you thought you where paying for a new school to be built.
