I think solid's point is that no country is perfect . And he's not wrong.... It's a bit of a strawman, but think he's trying to say Britain is no worse for speech than others... which honestly, think Britain is probably below average for free speech in democratic countries... But regardless I think it's important to make positive steps not negative. To me that includes: Same rules for peasants and stars when it comes to what can and can't be in the paper. Newspapers should be able to print what they like (although consequences such as libel apply) I don't like hate speech, but I don't think it should be banned either. I don't like a random police man gets to decide what is "hate" or not. Open for all sorts of abuse. Laws against protesting. Bad. (And yes that includes Bush's "free speech zones", which I believe were illegal)
I'd like to see more controls on twitter, especially around images and videos, particurlarly with the top media channels such as SKY and others. I think if they post an image or a video, it should be time stamped. It's a bit like when there was supposed food shortages in UK supermarkets, the national media were using photos in some cases that were weeks old of empty shelves, and that gives a very misleading picture, which then creates problems such as panic buying. The accounts know what they are doing and do it purposely in the knowledge of creating clickbait. Too much malicious stuff being posted and being allowed to get away with it, I've not problem with the truth, but let's have proof that what is being reported is in real time and those more vulnerable can identify what is fake. It's probably the copyright of archived press images that needs the additional regulation.
I didnt see him imply anything like that tbh just that free speech is a lie in the uk in some cases. like anything anti royal at the moment, arrested, stepped in front of by security so the new kings feelings arent hurt when you ask who elected him or how were the ones funding his life of utter privilege Oh and not my king signs are also not allowed.
So racist , disablist misogyinist abuse of people should be allowed but i get nicked when i plant a footplate in their grid . oh and cops can only arrest the CPS decides if a charge is warranted
I mean, there is a difference between hate speech and threatening behaviour. But yes, I believe, speech should be free, including the right to say morally reprehensible things. It's not really free speech at all if you're only allowed to say nice and political correct things.
Other countries have free speech beyond what Britain has. But nowhere has speech without consequences, there's always consequences for speech. (Libel or Civic charges for consequences caused by your speech).
Hopefully he'll press charges init.....can't be having the police thinking they are above the law now can we......who they think they are German royalty
1984 is alive and the tip toe into totalitarianism is clearly happening.....remember we are the 99 percent who give our liberty away to an ungovernable force who are never elected but always get what they want through the puppets they control ie the people who supposedly work for you the voters
you need to make your mind up if you believe in "free speech" or not as your first sentence contradicts what follows .
So then.. An observation. None of the royalists on here have joined the queue. And none are attending tomorrow. Thats right yeah?
