So Wolves will be at least 16 points adrift of safety on Xmas Day (it might increase to 17 points on Monday). In comparison, last season we were eight points adrift (also from 17 games).

What was the record we broke last season about being the team relegated earliest or something? Surely Wolves are on course to break that currently

We broke a few I think. Didnt we win the fewest games over the season? Even less than Derby. Be interesting to see what approach they take to the transfer window now. Save the money for the promotion push next season or try and reclaim some pride and not be the worst team in history

If they do look to recruit anyone next month - whether for this season or next - they're likely going to have to look at home grown players. And they often don't come cheap.

Wolves have maxed-out their 17 man overseas player quota, and yet have only used 23 of their 25 squad places (due to having only six home grown players). And those six players include their third choice keeper and a young lad with just one league appearance to his name this season (but not so young that he counts as an U21 player), so effectively it's a 21 man squad. They've really made a pigs ear of their recruitment: a small-ish squad of selectable outfield players and yet are maxed-out on overseas players.

Derby only won a single game in their 11pt season. So we won more than they did, but we also lost more than they did.

Most losses is what you're thinking of.

I am finding myself getting obsessed by Wolves losing. It would be great if they end up with less points than us last season and it is starting to look feasible. Not sure why Edwards jumped ship. Anyone with a degree of sense would gave stayed at Boro.

That's a big defeat for West Ham. It sounds like Fulham were there for the taking, and even a draw would have been disappointing for West Ham.

West Ham next 3 fixtures

BRIGHTON (H)
Wolves (a)
NOTTINGHAM FOREST (H)

Plus Sunderland, Burnley and Bournemouth shortly after.

Good chance we’ll know by mid-January if West Ham are going down or not.

Also, last day is LEEDS (H)

If they do close the gap it could be all on this game

Including Fulham today, this run of promising games for West Ham has unfortunately coincided with losing two of their only three senior FBs to the AFCON. The lad who played LB today was apparently at fault for the goal.

And whatever reinforcements they recruit next month (whether for FB or elsewhere) will miss out on most of these games too.

Not that I feel any sympathy for them. None at all.

Me neither

It’s not like AFCON has come as a surprise. That’s just poor planning

Given how well Nunez did at Forest last season , i am surprised by West Ham's predicament....albeit recruiting from Saints was probably not too prudent.
