I'm way ahead of you. I'm adding in three points against Wolves, two points against Arsenal, thinking that Chelsea have got a tough one away to Leicester next...

To be fair you could deduct at least 2 points from the Watford game and 1 from Palace at home.

Take nothing away from Vardy, but Leicester yet again show that they are capable of winning without him (they did so over Xmas too). In contrast to Tielemens, who they haven't started for two games, and they lost them both. He is essential to them.

So let’s assume for a moment that Liverpool win at Wolves tomorrow, that would mean there are essentially 2 fault lines in the PL table. A 6 point gap between 4th and 5th, then a middle 10 spanning 4 whole points, then a 5 point gap to the bottom 6. Our first task is to get to the top of the middle 10, and then chase down Chelsea.

I think this has got to go down as one of the more ludicrous PL tables. It's Liverpool in a league of their own, followed by a 2 team league in Leicester and Man City with Chelsea on their own (at the moment). Then it's just a mass of teams from Newcastle in 14th upwards who can perfectly reasonably say they're in with a shot of European football! Then the last 6 teams are battling for survival. I tell you what, the only thing that will be settled before the end of the season is the league title. There could genuinely be 6+ teams fighting for European places on the last day! Saints v Sheffield United could be far more interesting than it sounded at the start of the season.

I can appreciate what you are saying especially with regard to the five point gap between Newcastle and Brighton. However, given some of the odd results of late (including Burnley last nigh) t, you could ask yourself at what position does the relegation battle stop ? There are 14 games left which means 42 points to play for. Man Utd in fifth are only 11 points off the relegation zone. You would have to argue that those teams below Newcastle look involved in a battle and I would suggest that Norwich, Bournemouth and Villa are still the most likely candidates. I am not convinced Watford will be in the bottom three before the close of the season and I think West Ham will be sweating for a few more weeks but cannot see them going down either. I would keep an eye out for Brighton being dragged further down.

The fact that Liverpool have won all their games bar one draw is pretty incredible.

Should Liverpool win or possible draw their next two games, both away at Wolves then TPU, it's us at Anfield. What a change in mindset, well for me anyway. A few weeks ago I would have been worried about a damaging loss I now find myself confident we can make more than a game of it. Not confident enough to expect a win but wouldn't be surprised if we did.

I would still be stunned if we won at Anfield despite our great form. They have dropped 2 points all season.
