Story of Villa's season. Doing what they need to do in the matches they need to do it. No shock results, just beating the sides they need to. Brighton home, Everton home, Norwich away, and now well on course for Newcastle home. Us and Watford to come next month.
Finally Almiron comes off. I actually find it painful, watching him. The novelty of watching someone play as if they've won a competition to be there wore off back in about February.
He truly is dreadful. I'm not sure that bringing Amobi back would have been a worse decision than spending £40m on Joelinton either.
We had a couple Almiron fans on here last time we discussed his amazing Toon career. Where have they gone?
I saw him a few times on TV and once live in Atlanta for Atlanta Utd, and he was the Tadic to ATL's Pelle, Joseph Martinez. (Almiron scored 13, Martinez 35 and Almiron made most of those). I know the MLS isn't the Premier league, but I really thought he would make the transition. You can see why I am not a football scout or a manager.
There's nothing artificial about it sadly. We seem to still have the WTF thing but now it comes with a 2 minute build up. At the moment we are benefiting from it more than losing out to it so I'm not too bothered. That will change, our turn will come.
I think it is artificial drama, var is for the tv audience and is being used accordingly. Trying to create drama and 'scenes' for all of those at home to write on Insta about. On your last point, it will be interesting to see if any fence sitters change their mind once we have a few goals disallowed. As unless I'm mistaken, it's only disallowed one of our goals so far, which was against Leicester in our first var match.
The technology is being used so badly it is untrue. This is no “wise after the event” remark as I stated from the very beginning that was my concern. Use technology as briefly and simply as possible, or don’t use it. Goal line technology works. Simple and clear. VAR is a shambles. Don’t stop the game for a check. Don’t show the crowd. Don’t have a screen on the side of the pitch. Just communicate with the referee within 10 seconds. 10 seconds; did I mention that?
Nah you're wrong mate, we need to spend 3 minutes deciding whether someone's toenail is offside, it's important we get these things right* after all. I can remember everyone being so unhappy when those ones went against them in the past. *Margin of error excluded.
Seriously though I couldn't agree more, and I think relates to the point I've made in the previous post (and for a long time before it came in). It was never going to work like that because they don't want it to, as I've said it's for the tv audience and they want it to add 'drama'. They've even said they won't be introducing a time limit, and also want to work towards using the big screens more while the decision is being made similar to rugby.
Rumour on Twitter that Everton will be looking for a new manager real soon and Eddie Howe is no1 target.
Eddie would be a fool to leave Bournemouth at the moment. He’s got a great team, a decent board and seems to be enjoying his life. To go to Everton where it’s much more pressure ...... I know I couldn’t be bothered ......
Yes, of course there is that ...... but does he need it that much? He tried a bigger club before and was disappointing .....
Also reading Watford will sack their manager if they fail to beat us Saturday.....RE Howe money talks as said below but I just think Bournemouth and Howe are a great fit and he would be silly to move. But if I had to put money on it ...I believe Moyes would return.
Burnley? Don't think it is really comparable. IF he has ambition to reach the top teams then he needs to probably do a club in between Bournemouth and one of them. I think it unlikely that one of the top 6 would take him straight from Bournemouth. Go to Everton and do well and the next step is one of the actual big teams. Of course he may be happy at Bournemouth and not want to uproot his family/life for a more pressure job, which is also fine. I've heard before that he is an Everton fan, not sure how true that is
There are about 6 managers who could go after this weekend it seems. Sanchez Flores, Emery, Hassenhuttl, Silva, Pellegrini and Solskjaer.
