Even so they only lost Kante and gave big money to a few with CL footy so surprised they weren't ahead.
Don't forget we have Forster on 100k and Austin on 80k. I wonder what the average across the squad is now, saw someone say that Stephens new contract puts him at 45k so would imagine most are on at least 50k
I made that figure up, but I have heard he is one of our highest earners, which is depressing enough. I forgot that Long signed a new deal in 2016 as well. Think we are going to be seeing a similar team for quite awhile yet.
The weirdest part about this argument on money is that if these were annual salaries they would be quite good. However, they get this 52 times a year....
Silva is a good manager and I expect enough £ will be waved so he may go. Looking at that Everton squad reminds me of the old Eric Morecambe gag about playing all the right notes, just not in the right order. They have quality, just not in the right places. It would be interesting if we had a list of Prem clubs manager/coach costs over a season or three, including paying off past ones.
So Everton are trying to unsettle another team, in an effort to sign a new manager? If they are successful, I hope it works out as well as the last time they did it.
That pisses me off on any number of levels. 1 - Everton are so ****ing arrogant 2 - Silva has a good thing going at Watford 3 - I want him to manage Saints 4 - I don't want him to be one of 'those' people who jumps at the jingle of a bit more cash
I could comment cynically and say something along the lines of 'that's the hierarchy in football, get used to it', which some sad sod undoubtedly will, if they bother, or I could say, 'yeah, I agree with you'. And even if you didn't get your wish that Silva might be a Saints manager on the horizon [not a bad shout incidentally], I also wouldn't want a club to cherry-pick a manager from a club in the same division when that club is perfectly capable of achieving its own success. Of course, that goes for us too.
Number three harks back to my ongoing insistence that we get him. Something I asked for before he joined Hull, when he left Hull, whilst we dithered. Incessantly. In case you missed it!
Yes, I'm still aware that you declared your wish to see him as manager, back then. Before he went to Hull City I didn't know enough about him to form an opinion. When he left Hull I was with you.
Surely they will just stick with Unsworth til the end of the season and re-evaluate then. Can't see them being able to prise away a manager mid season, more than likely be able to get Dyche/Silva if they still want them in the summer. So can only really get out of work managers and that list is ****ing tragic.
Good shout, I’ve been wondering about that myself. After all, the same logic applies to managers as it does to players, and if a richer club poaches a manager from a poorer club mid season there is far less choice for replacements.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-ruled-out-as-everton-continue-manager-search Sky saying Silva and Allardyce ruled out.
Rumour I heard the other day was have Unsworth until end of season then get Diego Simeone in the summer.
