It is all too easy to blame Rupert Murdoch for some of our ills. Are some people incapable of thinking for themselves?
Any way you like it!! I have just read the first chapter of Charles Dickens's Hard Times, and the importance was to instill into children were `facts.` Of course Rupert Murdoch reports the facts. (That suits his agenda)
He was instrumental in the birth of the Premier League, which has led directly to the ridiculous salaries and transfer fees prevalent today, so that many Premier League and Championship clubs can't even afford to buy English players. That's why there are so few English players in the PL, not because they're not good enough. Maybe you should look into the root causes of situations before you come out with sweeping statements like you did there.
There was an article on the BBC Football webpage the other day featuring a young English player who is developing a possible playing career in Germany with VfB Stuggart where he has been actively encouraged to pursue gaining good academic qualifications alongside his emerging football career. He compared that to the situation in many an academy where the training regime is at odds with pursing higher edcuational qualifications beyond a BTEC, as well as the emphasis were the players were asked to play with intelligence as well as technique, something totally lacking in players like Jack Wilshere and Walcott. It begs the question, do the academies demand enough in order to produce high calibre players? SFC have managed to produce one world class player, two good PL players and an OK PL player in the past 10 years, but then Saints were producing classier players in the past. Chivers, Channon, Paine, Williams, Le Tissier.
creating the cesspit of greed that is the EPL is the least of Murdoch's crimes. He is the Goebbels of the West.
