As much as we love Manolo lets not forget that hes only played four games. Yes he has scored 6 but he could just as easily go on a barren run. Lukaku has consistently been one of the top scorers in the prem for a number of years now. Of course Gabbiadini could continue his form and we all hope that does, but for now I think even the most biased of fans would take a, still very young, Lukaku over Gabbiadini.
Very much agree with this. Gabbiadini has had an outstanding 4 games and looks a brilliant player but Lukaku has had an excellent 4 or 5 seasons.
Nope, I am more biased than even the most biased fan because Gabby is here and we have no hope of Lukaku. I am at my most unreasonable.
Yeah, 79 PL goals and a goal every 164 minutes over five years is a pretty fantastic return, particularly given that he's still merely 23. Nothing overrated about him; Lukaku is one of the best strikers in the PL, full stop.
To be fair you have to have a shred of loyalty to stay even a week at the "biggest club in the world, we have the first dugouts mate!"
When he signed, he did the old stepping stone talk. I'm no fan of Everton, but that is pretty deplorable. Glad we sign the ones who want to make it, not the ones who think they've made it!
Heh, most of our players depart after two seasons; he has already given them three. If you include the year spent on loan, his tenure in the first team at Everton exceeds all but four of our senior players. And it sounds like money isn't the main sticking point, given that his agent wants him to sign...he wants to play in CL. And he's unquestionably good enough for that.
Bit late in the day. Can't defend your way to safety, as it puts incredible pressure on scoring enough goals.
Not sure how people can question Lukaku's motives. He could have quite happily sat on the bench at Chesea and earned the money but he chose to go to WBA to play football and then sign for Everton a lesser team but one where he could improve his game and be picked for every game. For me he's earned the right to want to play for a team that can challenge for titles.
Perhaps because he always make the step seem not worthy of him. The day he signed for Everton he was so disparaging about their ambition, like he's doing them a favour. I don't care how good you are, that's not right. Now I'm sure he'll get his move, his path will be laced with gold, but I don't think it will pan out quite as magically as he imagines. And as for the Manolo comparisons, he's loved where he left, continue that trend and its a no brainer. Rom can't say the same, and this week he become Everton's all time top Prem scorer. Hmmmmm
