Didn't you say the other day that we'll struggle to hold on to Oriol? But you reckon that Everton can keep Lukaku? Come on, one of those players is staying and forging a nice career, the other has delusions of grandeur.
No I said that saying that Romeu wouldn't want a move to a bigger club because he had been at Chelsea and Barca was stupid as his time there has no impact on how he would be used there now due to his age when at those clubs. Lukaku staying or going will show what Everton's board are really like, they have managed to keep hold of their better players in recent times though (Stones aside)
Lukaku, while undoubtedly a good striker, is some way off being in the top bracket. If they can get £50m+ for him then they've done well imo. If I was Everton, I'd be trying to whore him to China for around £80m
Not even close imo. I might be a bit premature here, but I wouldn't swap Gabbiadini for any striker in the PL right now, and certainly not for an overrated lump like Lukaku - who is basically just Andy Carrol without the injuries.
A tad harsh, but I get his point. RL has the ability to score goals, but also has the ability to go missing at key times. If he thinks he can walk into any of the top clubs in europe and be a success without improving in some key area's, then I think he is wrong in believing his own hype. A good, not a great by any stretch. Being worth £60M now just reflects how crazy the market place is.
Wouldn't swap Romelu for Manolo either. But then, MG is catnip for Tadic & Redmond so that would be rather stupid.
A bit of poetic license to illustrate the point. Wouldn't swap him for Gabbiadini right now though - that point still stands. And I doubt their respective managers would swap him for Aguero, Jesus, Costa, Harry Kane or Ibrahimovic. He might just get in the current Arsenal line up, although knowing Wenger he probably wouldn't.
Aguero leaving? Costa leaving? Ibra possibly leaving? Sanchez possibly leaving Arsenal? He's young as well with a good goalscoring record. Certainly has his limitations but a big club desperate for a proven premier league striker (20 goals a season in a good team) may fancy him. Will cost a lot though but has plenty of resale value.
Oh, someone will be happy to pay silly money for him. There's definitely no doubt about that. But I thought Everton were prepared to make him rich beyond the dreams of avarice anyway, so it's hard to know what's really going on.
Exactly what has happened to us in the past....players keep options open, leading clubs to feel a bit confident...then Wham!
Indeed. It's all about winning things, as Lallana, Lovren and co will testify. Ugh. Nearly choked on my own bitterness there
