Don’t get me wrong, I know in my heart that we’re safe, and not just because of the points difference and the lack of games to catch us. I suppose the old cliché “we’re too good to go down” actually might be literally true in our case. The only spark of life from the bottom 5 was shown last night by Spam, but no one else has shown any desire to survive at all. We, on the other hand, have won 2 out of 3, scored 6 and played some great football. We could easily reach 50 points and still have an outside chance of a Europa place.

Until that adding machine clicks and whirs and goes ding, though, I ain’t taking nothing for granted.

It’s a shame that Everton, Newcastle, Burnley and even Palace keep winning, we could be above them now if they’d had a couple of draws instead of wins. It’s nice to look ahead at saints games with more optimism of a good result now though! I’m confident we can give most sides in the league a tough game.

If our home form had been anything like our away form, we would definitely be in the mix for a European place. Just 3 more home wins would have put us in 7th place, 3 points clear of Arsenal.
Looking on the bright side, we’ve got the whole of the summer to sort it out for next season.

Sunday will be a chance to see how tough we can be. City could be on the beach, but that side will still make life very difficult for us even in flip flops.

I’d like to see how we did going at them (if they let us have the ball) and how we’d cope being countered by them. Stick Oriel in front he back 4 and bomb everyone else forward. could be scoring.

3-6

What the hell was that defending and goalkeeping from Sheff U there?

It was like watching saints under mark hughes.

Be great if they could just leave it to some discretionary power sometimes, a little common sense.

Be great if they could just scrap the rule. Absolutely no need to bring it in last year.

(Fortunately, given that it's hated by everyone, I have every expectation that it will be scrapped. Just a case of when. It won't be this summer, but maybe next summer?)

Toby must sit on the bench, watch Sanchez get picked ahead of him, and wonder why on earth he agreed to that new contract pre-lockdown.
