Barkley looks great. Let's hope this one doesn't end up sitting on the Man City bench.

I had a friend watching some U18 club tournament a few years back, and he told me to look out for Ross Barkley. Needless to say, every time he plays well, I'll be hearing from him.

Indeed I think they are two top players short of City and Chelsea and possibly even Spurs if they keep Bale and Soldado fires, a CM and a winger (Depends how much faith they have in Zaha, I suppose) would resolve that as you say. Thought their team was short last year too and they were thoroughly average for the first half of the season but then Chelsea and City fell into turmoil and once United had a sniff of the title the Fergie-effect took over, they never looked back and romped on. With this squad and without Fergie I think it would take miracles from Moyes to get close to the title, but surely there will be additions.

I thought Mourinho was quite right in the interviews from this morning saying there hasn't been an outstanding PL team for some years. United, City etc have won it more down to the failings of others than being of the Arsenal Invincibles/Chelsea points record team's ilk.

It'd be really nice if Joe Cole could have a good season. Could do with him at his best on the left for England.

Sorry but I really can't bear West Ham. It's one of those irrational dislikes that's stayed with me for life and has only been exacerbated by the likes of Fat Sam /Nolan/Carroll.

Wonderful coverage on MotD already in thirty seconds, no mention of Chambers' debut, and then managing to completely fail to identify where a foul took place.
