The issue with the Colton statue is there had been petitions to remove it for a decade, but the council - which is (obviously...) Tory and contains this charming fellow....The trouble with removing statues is that it asks more questions than it answers. And where does it stop?
It's also implied that if you don't want a certain statue removed then you must agree with what the person commemorated by the statue stood for.
And who decides which statues remain and which are removed. What happens if people want to keep a statue that others don't.
So many questions.
