I haven't encountered anything like that either, Beth. You're right, there are some who find themselves on the street through domestic circumstances, and will jump at the chance of a place to live in a hostel. But there are also some, sure, with addictions but who have free will, who choose to stay on the streets with compatriots with the same mindset/problems. Both situations are true.
Okay that proves it.

You have never had a severe addiction problems Goldie. I am pleased for you.

Having been close with some one who had a gambling and drink addiction who was saved by someone close to him taking complete control of his life...saving him from being evicted from his house, getting psychological help and counselling.
He is still in the grips of the addiction only just controlled by other people

Jeez, Stroller. You’ve completely missed the point. This isn’t about opinions and views that others might find objectionable, it’s about whether that makes them a bad egg or not. Please keep up.
I must have missed it too. Being racist is one very good example of being a bad egg It's a bit simplistic to say that having objectionable views does not make you necessarily a bad egg . Or do you disagree with that too.

Here comes Yorkie right on time.

Keep up, Yorkie. We’ve moved on to giving the homeless and addicted a kicking.

going to have to somewhat disagree with this beth.

I have suffered from addiction, so has my dad and my brother and my mum (gambling on all accounts).

Its sad, and its very hard to get out of and whilst it is a mental disease, i very much believe in the you are responsible for your own behaviour. To overcome this stuff requires huge discipline focus and support.

Whilst i disagree with bravermans approach to the homeless and goldies statistics that even more than a handful choose to stay on the streets (there won't ever be statistics on this), i do believe people needs to be responsible for their addictions. Yes you can be sympathetic/empathetic but i don't think people should be absolved of this responsibility (not necessarily talking about the homeless here).

I'm sure lying can be addictive -> see boris but i would never excuse his behaviour and give him a pass for it.

Reading this thread it’s great to see how an epoch changing, revolutionary win for one side, giving them the ability to make any law they want without opposition, has brought everyone together in an optimistic bath of fraternal love and stern commitment to building a better shared future.

Or not, as the case may be.
