Another set of my genuine questions, please.

Why are American Bully XL dogs attacking people at moment.

Is it the hot weather.

Do they attack all the time but nobody cares..

And are we just in the middle of those scare rants.

Before it was pitbulls that attacked all the time, now its American Bully's. It seems there is a strict doggy rota, on whose turn it is to attack people

Final question.

If we do ban them now...what happens to people's pets, do the police storm peoples house take them away and put them down

So many bad dog owners out there who haven't bothered to get their dogs trained.
Bullys are specifically bred to be aggressive and fight.
Not sure banning is the answer, but they certainly are a major problem and are responsible for many fatal attacks.

I guess it’s hard to get data on dog attacks but there were more deaths last year than usual and six of ten were this breed which presumably makes up a miniscule percentage of dogs. People are breeding stronger versions and they’re a bit of a status symbol as well as being owned by weird chavs and drug dealers.

No innocent dog should be put down but I think it’s reasonable to neuter the existing population and ban their breeding/importing. There’ll be a black market still but if you disincentivise it enough it will go away until the next breed takes over and we go again.

It all seems a bit flavour of the month to act now. This was an issue last year if not earlier.

In Lower Saxony in Germany it has been compulsory for all dog owners to take a test - a so called ''certificate of competency'' before owning a dog, a bit like a driving licence for dogs. It requires as much knowledge and experience to take care of a dogs needs as it does to drive a car, and so why not ? The test is also accompanied by measures which force owners to have their pets microchipped, entered into a central database, and covered by liability insurance. Apparently Baden Württemberg is considering doing the same. I just don't get it that any idiot can own a dog in the first place, both because of the animals welfare, and the safety of others.

A guy that I work with has three of them, has young kids, and has never had an ounce of an issue with them. He's had them all trained at an obedience school for dogs, so maybe that's a route the government should be forcing the owners down

They are the latest things that we the public need to be scared off.
It’s what the media does

Yes, I think that's the way we should go here.
My step daughter and son live with us and they have a Rhodesian Ridgeback between them.
He's a beautiful pedigree, but a big, powerful dog.
They've spent thousands getting him correctly trained and have done a brilliant job with him.
He's a fantastic guard dog and would literally die protecting any of us in his family, but he's not dangerous, as he won't just randomly attack. He wouldn't attack straight away even if a stranger were to wonder into his territory unannounced, but that person would get the message straight away that they should leave.
However, even owners as responsible as them should have to get a licence etc imo.
We have idiots letting their little darlings run up to Kenai off lead, barking and trying to nip him.
They clearly have no idea and no control over their dog. If he wasn't well trained, he'd make very short work of their dog and then he'd be in trouble!!
The problem is getting out of control here, but I suspect money will prevent anything being done.

I’m down the gym….rather you would. Genuinely interested as I never heard that

Not just dogs, but pets generally as well.
Our experience whilst out walking the dog (pre hip replacement!!) is that there are countless more dogs out and about than there used to be and that many of them have clearly received little or no training.

But we’re talking specifically about dogs…..and more specifically dogs that are deemed “dangerous”
