I’ve been following the discussion of this hilarious episode on here.
There appears to be a gap in the market for a bank which matches Nigel Farage’s moral and ethical position. Let’s see how long it takes for the financial services sector to take advantage of this particular opportunity. I wonder how many people would flock to join a bank reflecting Nigel’s worldview. Given the constant background whining I reckon a bank declaring itself to be anti woke, anti diversity, anti European, anti immigration etc etc would find a healthy niche in the market. It’s as if the people up in arms about this bullshit have no agency to change anything or ability to get up off their arses and sort things out to their own satisfaction…..I thought this was the ‘self help’ brigade personified?
….of course a bank, or any other organisation, doesn’t have a moral or ethical position, any more than it has a conscience. Individuals within the bank made a decision that it was bad business to be associated with a ‘disingenuous grifter’ like Farage. That decision has backfired on them big time, which is funny in itself. Because bankers are largely, I’m guessing, disingenuous grifters themselves. I notice no other bank has rushed to offer him an account. Out of curiosity I’ve just looked up the ‘core values’ of both Coutts and my own bank. If Nige had done the same at some stage doubtless he would have left Coutts of his own accord, it’s all out there in the open. But he’s too busy playing the victim. Of course there are lots of small business banks which would have handled his account no questions, his ‘business’ is simply a shell to sell his time like those used by many self employed people. But he had to bank with the financier to the rich and aristocratic, his snobbishness and nouveau riche desperation to become accepted while simultaneously moaning about ‘elites’ and ‘the establishment’ has bitten him firmly on the arse. Old money doesn’t want to be tainted by his type.
