How so?
Probably not. There are loads of benefits to a four day week. No one does anything on a Friday afternoon anyway.
Less commuting, happier employees, better retention of staff, health benefits (mental and physical) and more.
It’s not right for everyone but generally if you treat your staff like adults they’ll do what they need to do and get the job done regardless of whether in an office or not or doing 5x8 hour shifts/4x10 hours.
You're speaking as a middle class, white collar worker.
How does a busy council refuse collector that works to rigid hours fit five days into four? A - it doesn't, the council just hires more people to pick up the fifth day work, and the council taxpayers pick up the tab.
Lovely jubbly foster care, that will set them up for life....give them quite a few emotional scars no doubt.
Look I am far from saying it wasn't wrong.I am trying to get you to at least understand the emotions and desperation here ...and also perhaps that a custodial sentence was not the right option.
Yeah it’s not necessarily going to work in every role but as with everything it’s not a race to the bottom and it’s a way of making roles more attractive in a tough market.
Why can’t refuse collectors do four longer days rather than five shorter ones? Presumably once upon a time many people did six days (some still do). I don’t honestly see the issue in at least trialling these things. If they don’t work then you go back to how it was. If it does work then it’s a great recruitment tool even without the other benefits.
Are you suggesting Labour put forward a proposal in its manifesto that manual workers should increase their daily working hours from 8 to 10?
I think companies should have the option. It shouldn’t be mandatory but it’s a benefit companies can offer where suitable. If the work is so tough it’s impossible to do 10 but you can do 8 then obviously it won’t apply to them.
12 hour shifts are great. Less days spent at work and many more days off. I would hate to work shorter shifts
Are you not ?
It can be a killer knowing you’ve got 4 x 12 hour night shifts ahead of you but in outlet place they’ve even started to limit it to 3 only.Exactly. Firemen used to do four days on and four off which I’m sure helped attract people to the profession in the absence of other benefits and relatively **** money.

Just got a new roster which is bit all over the place but at certain points it means only take 2 shifts as leave and get 8 days off. Plus another couple of times I get 6 and 7 rest days in a block.
I’d recommend it to anyone
What you've shown is that occupations that are compatible with longer shifts, already have them. Try convincing a refuse collector to do a 12 hour shift in 30 degrees C or -5 degrees C in winter.
Why would I be? Russia has the launch codes, makes no difference where they're kept.
Putin has been making nuke threats for decades. If he's stupid enough to launch one NATO and China will turn Moscow to dust.

We have to work in those conditions.
But isn’t Lukashenko hinting that (he) would use them if Belarus was attacked ? Of course that goes against what Putin has said, however would you believe any of them ?
Bins are smellier than most of your customers though.
Who would attack Belarus? It's just more empty threats and posturing.
FYI Putin publically admitted Russia blew up the dam. I know people who have issues with Ukraine weren't convinced.
