National Conservatism.

Low birth rate for the ‘right’ kind of people an ‘existential threat’. Education prevents women having enough babies. Neo (cultural) Marxist agitators everywhere. Enemies on the left, in the media, in the civil service, in Europe. At the top of our own party!

I bet the National Conservatives do great armbands and marching songs.

Sad but also mental that these people are in a mainstream political party running the country now and not even a small number of them. Her speech is basically Orban or a parody of UKIP.

It became a UKIP government straight after Johnson's get Brexit done landslide when he purged the front bench of anyone who wasn't a full throated fanatic. Now that they're losing votes, notably in what had been pro-Brexit areas, this loony right bunch think it's because Sunak's too wet and they need to move even further to the right. Sieg Heil.

The whole of the western world seems to be able to find billions to destroy stuff…that they can then spend billions on repairing again.

Ever get the feeling that this is some vast money making scheme for a chosen few ?

Iraq war was the template, Bush destroyed the country and when it was over awarded all the rebuild contracts to his chosen mates and used Iraqi oil to pay for it. Blair was his useful idiot...

All politicians are the same though, I’m told.

The people behind the Reclaim Party, puppet fronted by charm free Laurence Fox, are funding these splinter groups like the Conservative Democratic Organisation (oxymoronic in so many ways). Lovely people like Aaron Banks.

people living overseas for more than one election cycle should not be allowed to vote
if you want to vote in a countries election then live in the country

The 15 year limit on voting rights for British citizens living overseas will be removed, and the registration period for these voters will be extended from one year to three. This means that overseas voters will only need to register to vote every three years.

Any British citizen living abroad who has previously lived in, or been registered to vote in the UK, will have the right to vote at UK Parliamentary elections. These voters will be registered at the constituency where they were last registered to vote, or where they lived if they were not registered to vote before.

Anyone who is registered to vote in the UK can make donations to political parties and campaigners. Extending voting rights to more British citizens living overseas will mean these new voters will also be allowed to donate to political parties and campaigners in the UK.

That supports what I said. GDP per capita has scarcely moved since 2005, which gives the lie to the claim that mass immigration is doing wonders for the economy. We just have more people to house and service.

Quote of the day from the jamboree yesterday. Suella Braverman "Given Starmer's view on what a woman is, Labour may just have its first female leader" <laugh>

Step forward Keira Starmer...

Sounds a bit like confirmation bias. GDP and GDP per capita are simple but incomplete ways of measuring an economy. I could ask why it’s still not recovered to 2019 levels.

Good to have you back anyway.

I'm no economist, but I would have thought GDP per capita was highly relevant to the welfare of UK citizens.

Thanks, I saw all you lefties agreeing with each other, and it looked dull...

People tend to agree when a shadily funded splinter group of the government comes out with a speech reminiscent of 1930s Germany.

Most people anyway.

1930's Germany was removing a whole section of its citizens from the country, stealing their possessions before it did so

2023 Tory splinter group wants to reduce immigration to ensure proper integration of those coming here and avoid culture wars farther down the road

See the difference?
