Good to see the condemnation from all sides over the disgusting behaviour from P & O ferries. Even right wing rags like The Express and The Mail are calling them out over this. Hopefully popular opinion will have its day.....adding to the fact that this action is probably illegal.

On a personal note I’m having yet another yearning to seek pastures new and change my job....I’m guessing my crew mate and I being assaulted, her getting worse of it than me, yesterday has pushed that to the front of my mind. Gone are the days of doing 50 years somewhere, getting a gold watch at the end of it and a clap from all the bosses as you walk out of the door.
I was feeling buzzed on adrenaline yesterday.....today I’m just feeling down.

So the Express and Mail are condemning this action by P&O. Why? They've been saying for donkeys years that workers have too much protection. This is what they wanted. Government ministers are also condemning it. Again, why? Barry Gardiner tried to make Fire and Re-Hire illegal (as it is in France, Spain and Ireland) but his bill was talked out by the Tories. This is what they wanted.

Why is anyone shocked by this?

That's a ****er mate. What is it with these ****s?
Hope you're crew mate wasn't too badly hurt.

Thankyou lads. To be honest I can’t hold any malice to the patient…old, female and had dementia. But as strong as an Ox and it turned out could turn violent in a split second….was sad to see and that’s what’s now upsetting me more.
I only got scratches (I moved too quickly when she tried to bite me) but crewmate was bitten, had her fingers bent back and was kicked in the head.
I laughed about it yesterday……today I just feel drained. I’ve honestly had enough…….

Ah, I take back the '****s' comment.
Still a bastard situation though.

That’s the thing….if it was a drunk youth kicking out I probably may have handled it far better and not been so gentle, even under provocation.
But hearing an old lady call out for her mummy has really moved me to actual tears. I feel broken
If anyone ever needed evidence of the non existence of any benign supernatural supreme being, dementia has to be it.

If I am ever afflicted with it I hope I have enough self awareness and courage left to do something about it before it gets too late.

I’ve always said exactly the same mate…..it’s the most horrible thing I see

I am so sorry Stainsey, you have reduced me to tears. I feel so sad about the whole situation. It is so wrong that you and your partner were attacked, but yes she had no idea and was so frightened. Dementia is the absolute pits. I fear it it greatly. My parents died in old age compus mentus. But my husbands side have it.

One Christmas day, my mother-in-law got very vicious when she accused us building an upstairs floor on her bungalow (she was at our house) and replacing all her possessions with our crap. We got the medics out and they managed to sedate her...but she was vicious and nasty in front of my then small children. They still "laugh" about it now...She went through the house shouting "wheres my plates", my hubbie trying to placate her and being pushed and shoved away...and the girls and I cowering in another room.

I honestly do not know how you and other medics do your jobs. My heart bleeds for you...but also Stainsey...thank you.:emoticon-0152-heart:emoticon-0152-heart:emoticon-0152-heart

As I said to G……dementia truly is the saddest and hardest thing I deal with in this job….and it still brings me to tears.
I’m getting too soft with age.

Jeez Stainsey, just reading about your exploits, hope you're ok mate and your colleague is feeling better......

Dementia is a real bastard of an illness and there's no cure only coping mechanisms, I see it when I go into the care home where my mother is and the staff are wonderful but you just know that some of the patients can turn in a split second.......

Not only do you deserve everyone's gratitude for what you and your colleagues do, but also shed loads of cake.....

Stay positive mate, you are making a difference........
