I voted for Boris, mainly for two reasons.
First, I wanted Brexit to happen, despite some reservations, and believed the Tories winning was my best chance of that happening, especially considering all the blocking and shenanigans going on in parliament over the referendum result (I'm not trying to open up the brexit debate, as that's been done to death, so for the love of God let's not go over it again as it won't change any opinions I'm guessing).
Secondly, I really didn't have anyone else that I wanted to vote for.

Now, for me, Boris simply has to go and is clearly incapable of or unwilling to be an even half decent PM.
His lies and blustering really have caught up with him imo and it's time to get rid and see if the Tories can try to turn around his legacy of lies and sleeze.
He made some tough calls during the pandemic and deserves some credit for the vaccines and trying to keep things open over the last couple of months, but that's all being overtaken by his unwillingness to even try to be a decent PM.

I suspect that the Tories will, as they always have, be totally ruthless in getting him out before much longer.

Agree with most of that.

I actually think that Boris was possibly the right person to have as PM during the pandemic, as he is undoubtedly good at rallying people with strong rhetoric etc.
A good cheerleader if you will.
However, his lack of substance, lies and any desire to understand fine details etc have now exposed him for what he mainly is.

I never quite agree with this assertion that if people support Boris over some things they are "tarring their own values and morals".

I can support him over his present stance concerning covid restrictions etc and his excellent decisions over vaccines etc, without in any way tarring my own values and morals with his brush.

I never used the word 'support' Col. I used the word 'defend'. Im talking specifically about his lies he constantly speaks. To defend such things, in my opinion would say just as much about the person doing so. Thats just my opinion. There are things that he has implemented that i have supported, especially the furlough scheme.

Great post Col, This is my take on the situation,for all the good he did with the vaccines & the furlough scheme he has let the country down badly, he should do the decent thing & resign before the party sacks him, we need strong leadership now not someone bumbling from one disaster to another

I should add that I don't regret voting for Boris for the reasons I laid out.

I just feel that he is now proving to be a poor PM overall, now that his cheerleading and cajoling concerning covid and his stance on getting brexit done are no longer needed.

Firstly, This is unfortunate. They are really doing a job on him with this drip feed of information aren't they? Do I care... it was stuid but there are more important things to worry about than a party. Agree, for some, this is the worst thing since the holocaust! For others it won't make a difference.

secondly, I vote for my local MP and will do again like the vast majority of the people here in Berkshire. If you think for one minute we will change our mind and let that rabble they call the Labour party in, you are deluded.

Boris's future wont be decided by a few bashers on here and other social media platforms but by Tory MP's and voters. They will have to remember that Boris unlike Milli'bland' (who I see was dragged out of the 'loser bin' for TV interviews this morning) is a winner. The only reason you are getting all these Labour droids on TV asking Boris to resign is because they have no chance of winner if he is leader.

I think when it comes to a GE and people are in the voting booths and they see the economy back on track and they have a choice between Boris and Captain Isolation with his party of idiots... I know who they will vote for.

You all crack on with your Tory hatred while I look forward to going back to work.

That’s fair, I do think that by voting for him there is a level or responsibility to all his many failings as well, his character was known, and that was part and parcel of him getting Brexit done and there can be no real complaints in the final brexit he achieved.

The one thing I think he really can be proud of is the initial vaccine rollout, he made a calculated gamble with buying the vaccines, and at that point it was a step into the unknown so a gamble, but one that paid off big time. I could start moaning about late lockdowns that Starmer called for earlier that would have reduced the death toll.. but we will just say well done on the initial rollout.

As I mentioned previously let’s hope the conservatives now remove him and get a competent politician rather than… a corrupt, incompetent and incoherent buffoon

I disagree with your first sentence.
It's pretty much common knowledge that most people vote in general elections for selfish reasons.
Could be tax, jobs, NHS, etc etc. We vote for the policies we agree with and think will help us and ours best.
That doesn't mean one is culpable for everything that government does imo.
