I was listening to some old Tory heads last night and they were saying Boris can sort this out but he needs to cut out all these gaffs. as I said recently they are in a difficult position because he is a winner and no matter what 5-6 people say on here he is still popular with the Tories. It may be a risk to get in a Sunak or Truss however he can’t keep cocking up with all these unnecessary incidents, because some good work is going on behind the scenes in this country, yet a party overshadows the new satellite launch. Stupid.

Boris simply isn't capable of sorting out this mess.
Plus, I suspect, he really isn't that bothered.

He needs a fixer. I dislike Alastair Campbell intensely but he did a job for Blair before it all went down the toilet with Iraq. The worry is if Boris has a wife that is constantly whispering in his ear that he is all powerful and doesn't have to listen to anyone.

I think the problem now is all the negativity has caught up with him and the 'party' pictures have tipped him over the point at which there's no coming back from. He's 'winged' it for so long it was inevitable he would eventually run out of goodwill and that's where he's at now. In footballing terms he's got the fans on his back and lost the dressing room, the grey suits will have him...

That’s the million pound question Col.. is he? I agree with his ex adviser (mayor) who said he does commit to things mayor/Brexit/election but he has been poorly advised for some time now. He said he needs a decent adviser that has the authority to sort out these things before they happen.
However I must admit that he doesn’t have his mojo when I have seen him of late.

what’s the alternative Captain Hindsight and his merry band of idiots?

Some on here are talking about Johnson's difficulties as if they were things that were happening to him, rather than because of him. No 'fixer' can sort this out for him, because it is him. It's the character that he's shown all his life - rules are for the little people. The Tories signed a Faustian pact when they elected him as leader and now they're paying for it. He can't come back from this because he can't change his innate character. He's a lying, entitled, unprincipled piece of **** and the Tories deserve him. The country doesn't, though.

We'll await the result of the Xmas party investigation, but he may struggle to pass virus restrictions in Parliament if his backbenchers revolt again. He's finished if he looks toothless. He's on a knife edge.

I genuinely am beginning to think that they couldn't do any worse.

Rishi Sunak is the alternative.

really interesting fella on the news yesterday who was saying there are plenty of hard working decent Tories and most of us don’t even know their names (unless it’s your own MP) so when I read ‘corrupt Tories’ I take with a large pinch.
I’m not giving up on Boris yet ( please note this is not the person but as PM) as a week is long time in politics. 2 weeks ago he won Old Bexley, Thursday he lost to the Limps. In May Starmer was toast after Hartlepool by election and today he is still crap but ahead in the polls. If Boris doesn’t have anymore gaffs, the roll-out goes as well as expected and we have a better year, voters won’t worry about a party ( apart from a few).

I love how people describe a blatant lie as just another 'gaff' or a blatant act of corruption as just 'lack of details'. Brilliant.

There are absolutely well meaning politicians on all sides, among the general dross.
Obviously some, many on here, will simply hate anyone who is a Tory or Tory voter.
However, this government look a spent force to me.
Out of their depth for the majority of their time in charge with a PM who is now, demonstrably completely unsuited to this unprecedented period of history.

Superb Col. I actually wish the Tories would get rid of him and put somebody serious in charge with a little honesty and integrity. We cant have this shambles for another 2 years. Im not Tory bashing, im Johnson bashing! . Hes the worst thing that has happened to this country in a long time! What sort of example does it set to society.

With all respect Bob but you really are sounding like a Broken record. You have done the ‘corrupt thing’ in every post. I we get it move on. I was enjoying Cols /scooper and Goldies thoughts on it. Try add something different mate.

Maybe not the whole government because people like Sunak has done okay.

The government as a collective have, imo, looked inept for too long now, mainly imo due to inexperience and in some cases a sense of entitlement.

Johnson sacked a number of capable and experienced people because they opposed Brexit. Isn't it time to 'move on' and bring them back into the government, replacing some of the current useless wasters?
