Brace yourself for the ‘France are reneging on an international convention that says refugees should claim asylum in their first safe haven country ’ gammon hued mob, forgetting that these poor people have been through many ‘safe’ countries before they reach France, and they want to get to England because they speak a bit of the language and have friends/contacts/relations here. It’s not because of welfare/benefits, most EU countries have better than us. Also forgetting that the U.K. government thinks that an actual formal agreement like the NI protocol can be ignored, let alone a non binding ‘convention’.

Gammon hued mob ! Then let's have a proper debate? Why the slurs?

They want to kill you. This has been indoctrinated into them for all of their lives.

At the moment the police say he converted to Christianity..and he asked to go to the Maternity Hospital.

Yes it was Rememberance Sunday and the bomb did go off at 11 but it is a very odd attack.

Let's not go completely over the top until we actually know what happened and why.

The bomber had converted to Christianity since arriving in the UK, apparently. That's going to make a few heads explode.

Done to advance his claim for political asylum according to C of E clerics. Apparently some asylum seekers feign faith to gain an advantage in their application.

Absolutely.

I mean there's every chance that he simply wanted to go into the hospital to show the children his shiny homemade bomb and how it worked.

Of course.

Or maybe he was just a nut job.

I suspect both. It's a fact that he was frustrated that his application for asylum kept being turned down.

At the moment, we have 1000 plus illegal migrants coming over on boats A DAY. Some get picked up by the authorities, some don't. Some will genuinely be fleeing persecution, many will be economic migrants. With that number coming in, it's highly likely that there will be a few "nut jobs" amongst them, and they will be allowed into the general population while their asylum application is considered.

The UK needs to take more serious steps to stop this influx by organised crime. The French will do nothing, indeed there is increasing evidence that Macron is using the migrant situation to punish the UK for Brexit.

I'd hire an Australian and put him/her in charge. They sorted out their own problems successfully.

Just for accuracy, according to The Times, there have been 23,500 arrivals over the channel this year, with 3,800 of these in November, which is considerably less than 1,000 a day. Of course the official figures will not include those who have arrived undetected and who have not sought asylum, but by definition we won’t know how many of these there are, without guessing.

What is the basis of your 1,000 a day figure?

Anyway Patel and her French counterpart have vowed to make the channel crossing ‘unviable’, so that’s sorted.

Look Col, he is a terrorist in my eyes whatever his motivation and that applies even if he drove to Stamford Bridge and bombed the stadium because he hated John Terry. He would still be a terrorist....in my mind a terrorist is (to use Strollers words) a nut job. End of conversation.

I am just waiting to see why he did it.
He has an Arabic sounding name, and it was 11.00 on Remembrance Sunday. It is easy to jump to conclusions (which may well be correct) but lets just wait and see.
(A bit like that Labour MP), lets get the facts correct then we can speculate

This is the source of the 1000 plus figure:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59257107

23,000 this year so far and the graph is going up steeply. 8000 odd last year. Organised crime are using larger and larger boats, sometimes 50 strong, with instructions to migrants to call 999 when they reach British waters so they are picked up.

Patel's efforts are worse than useless

So it’s 1,000 on one particular day, not every day. Though it might begin to average out at that, unless the weather intervenes. Having seen the pictures of the camps in Dunkirk, I’m not surprised people are taking to the boats. Unmanaged, uncontrolled movement of large numbers of people is bad for everyone, but just shows how **** the places they are coming from must be.

The 1000 plus figure is significant in that it is the current figure, illegal immigration has increased to this on a steep graph and this is not even high summer.

There is huge money to be made by organised crime, and I have read they are well armed. The French police don't want to go near.

Don't disagree.
He's a terrorist.

I see the ever trustworthy Gove made one of his pals a multi millionaire using tax payers money during the pandemic. What a pal to have.
