Great post IMO…….I’d also add that it is certain members of society that benefit from us, the people, being divided…be it on race, gender or sexual preference issues…….all the while this continues, groups Like BLM will continue to flourish and continue to divide. If it suits the powers that be……

Again totally agree on GB news….never have I seen so many middle class liberals be so upset at something that they vow never to watch. Personally can’t stand Farage, but end up having to put up with him due to the fact that he also has one of my heroes, Paul Embery on a Sunday morning…..also they had GG on for an interview among other Left Wing voices….so hardly just a voice of the ‘right’. Il also add that there does seem to be more black faces on the channel than I see on BBC or Sky…the racist bastards.

Agree, Stainsey, the division issue is hugely damaging to our society, and feeds off senses of grievance and victim entitlement.

Paul Embery is a voice of reason on GBN, and I feel interfaces well with Farage. And yes, I saw the Galloway interview. Caroline Flint shares a programme at weekends and is very good. And another ex Labour MP, Gloria del Piero (great name!) has a daily weekday slot with Liam Halligan. Bunch of fascists....!

Yeah well i will take southgates and the englands players reasons over why they did it. Unless they are complete liars of course.

The team maybe doing something with the best of intentions…..but of course those intentions, however genuine, may in some peoples opinion, including mine, be misguided.
Doesn’t make them liars…and doesn’t make me a racist

First, you're deluding yourself when you say the "vast majority of people" support taking the knee. This survey taken last month shows less than half of football fans support it:

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/england-taking-the-knee-fans-20804445

Second, taking the knee is an American gesture aimed at American race problems (that vastly exceed any we have in the UK). The US has two problems - high black crime rates, and endemic racist attitudes of many cops to black offenders like George Floyd. Floyd was murdered in the US, yet we then had violent demonstrations in the UK where British police were attacked. The submissive act of taking the knee over here just puts it into the mind of those that are ignorant that Floyd gave them justifiable grievances. Which goes on to my third point...

Imo there's a real risk by the continual submission to the knee, that it will push young black people towards the negative attitude of victimhood, rather than the positivity so many are showing now coming out of the school system. Racial discrimination must be eradicated at every opportunity, and looking at recent education results, much of the BAME population is succeeding. White working class and black West Indians are the sections of society underperforming at school.

Fourth comes the political point, that the BLM in the US is a neo-Marxist movement, which its founders admit it is. It's interesting to see from Twitter that most young wokies have no idea about this.

As far as GB News is concerned, I think it will succeed. I'd invest in it. It amuses me how all the liberal luvvies get so exercised about it. If they don't like the idea, they need not ****ing watch it. Farage now has an important slot (last night, interviewing "rebel" Sir Graham Brady). Farage is an natural presenter and is prepared to have a debate with anyone. He'll increase the audience figures, and indeed will Andrew Neil when he returns from his extended break.
<applause> Top post. I couldn’t even bothered to reply to that utter rubbish.
As for GBNews… I have seen more of an honest debate from both sides in a day than watching Sky/BBC for years. The Brady and freedom day interviews were superb. sadly many of the woke lot can’t handle anything that isn’t lefty

I only tend to watch GB news when Paul is on and now he’s gonna be a regular I’ll be tuning in when he’s on. He comes over as very reasonable and argues his points well. He got a lot of stick on SM from the usual suspects for going on but surely it’s better to argue your case where people can see what you’re saying..rather than shout ‘facist’ from the shadows. Labour would do well to look to people like him for the future.
I didn’t see the GG interview but heard they tried to talk over him and shout him down….bad move when it comes to George.

Here's the GG interview. I just watched the early part again, and it seems pretty good humoured. Prepare yourself for his views on anal sex at about 7 minutes!

Would you have booed them?

It's ****ing racism that's divisive, not those who suffer from it or choose to show their opposition to it.

On your first point probably not outwardly as while I don’t mind confrontation, I see no need to stoke the fire.
And on your point to Goldie…..I’d like to hope I’ve explained why I personally find the whole thing devisive…..you might disagree Strolls but I feel my point stands.

Anyway, going out for a run…must be mad in this heat but needs must

Will watch it when I get back……don’t agree with everything GG says or does but I’ve definitely warmed to the fella in recent times

America clearly has a big issue with racism. The UK on the other hand is said by many to be the best place for anyone of any colour to live because of its tolerance and acceptance - if you know a better country, Strolls, let's hear it.

So it pisses me off when left wing self-flagellators pretend we have American problems. We can talk ourselves into a problem that isn't there

And it pisses me off when right-wing deniers pretend that there is no problem. Ask the people that suffer the racism for ****s' sake!

We have an epidemic in London, of young black men killing young black men. And the Runnymede trust complains too many black people are being stopped and searched...

Travellers are probably the most difficult and truculent section of society, disowning education, moving across the country, ignoring laws and sadly, many are often reliant on crime. They have a terrible reputation around here in Sussex for rural crime.Yet the Runnymede Trust seems to be saying it's all our fault that their kids' educational achievements are falling behind normal white kids. You can take a horse to water...

Here's some more reading for you -

Wow the Metro! That ‘London’ freebie does feel the pulse of the nation! <doh> It also has a good sudoku.

Are you gonna watch ‘Uprising’ tonight Strolls ? Looks really good and will show for sure how racist Britain was in those days….and hopefully might show how far we’ve come since then (though I somehow doubt it)

It's reporting a study by the Runnymede Trust, as did every mainstream medium at the time. I selected the Metro because it's owned by the Daily Mail and thought it might get more credence from the hard of thinking than if I posted the exact same article from the Guardian. It' the study that's important, not who's reporting it.

No one is saying racism doesn’t exist, it can of course never be eradicated due to the fact some people will always hate others for some reason or other…be it race, religion or sexual preference.
However I agree with Goldie, it’s definitely not the racist hell pit right now that some may want us to believe.
Now if you think that makes me a racist by saying it (and disagreeing with BLM) then go ahead…I’ve had a whole lot worse. Best one was being accused of being no better than a slave owner and my Mrs being compared to a slave who I had raped to have my mixed race kids…..of course they wouldn’t have the bollox to say it to my face but I found it mildly upsetting when I saw what they had said.

You doubt that we've made progress or doubt that I'll watch it? I wasn't aware of it, when is it on?

Of course we've made massive progress but that's not a reason for complacency, or to pretend that we no longer have a problem.

We are slipping back.

Neither…I doubt it will show how far we’ve come is what I meant. It’s a 3 parter on BBC1 I think at 9pm. Starts off with the New Cross fire and ends with the ‘81 riots. Teally think you’ll enjoy it mate.

And I haven’t seen anyone in here saying racism doesn’t exist. Just saying we all have to question why these things happen and we all have to confront our own issues. IMO, movements like BLM are precisely why we are slipping back
