Agree, Stainsey, the division issue is hugely damaging to our society, and feeds off senses of grievance and victim entitlement. Paul Embery is a voice of reason on GBN, and I feel interfaces well with Farage. And yes, I saw the Galloway interview. Caroline Flint shares a programme at weekends and is very good. And another ex Labour MP, Gloria del Piero (great name!) has a daily weekday slot with Liam Halligan. Bunch of fascists....!
The team maybe doing something with the best of intentions…..but of course those intentions, however genuine, may in some peoples opinion, including mine, be misguided. Doesn’t make them liars…and doesn’t make me a racist
Top post. I couldn’t even bothered to reply to that utter rubbish. As for GBNews… I have seen more of an honest debate from both sides in a day than watching Sky/BBC for years. The Brady and freedom day interviews were superb. sadly many of the woke lot can’t handle anything that isn’t lefty
I only tend to watch GB news when Paul is on and now he’s gonna be a regular I’ll be tuning in when he’s on. He comes over as very reasonable and argues his points well. He got a lot of stick on SM from the usual suspects for going on but surely it’s better to argue your case where people can see what you’re saying..rather than shout ‘facist’ from the shadows. Labour would do well to look to people like him for the future. I didn’t see the GG interview but heard they tried to talk over him and shout him down….bad move when it comes to George.
Tried giving GB news a go but wasnt for me. **** like most channels. Anyone giving Farage air time really isnt my thing.
Here's the GG interview. I just watched the early part again, and it seems pretty good humoured. Prepare yourself for his views on anal sex at about 7 minutes!
Would you have booed them? It's ****ing racism that's divisive, not those who suffer from it or choose to show their opposition to it.
On your first point probably not outwardly as while I don’t mind confrontation, I see no need to stoke the fire. And on your point to Goldie…..I’d like to hope I’ve explained why I personally find the whole thing devisive…..you might disagree Strolls but I feel my point stands. Anyway, going out for a run…must be mad in this heat but needs must
Will watch it when I get back……don’t agree with everything GG says or does but I’ve definitely warmed to the fella in recent times
America clearly has a big issue with racism. The UK on the other hand is said by many to be the best place for anyone of any colour to live because of its tolerance and acceptance - if you know a better country, Strolls, let's hear it. So it pisses me off when left wing self-flagellators pretend we have American problems. We can talk ourselves into a problem that isn't there
And it pisses me off when right-wing deniers pretend that there is no problem. Ask the people that suffer the racism for ****s' sake! Racism in the UK has 'got worse over last five years' – says report | Metro News What happened five years ago?
We have an epidemic in London, of young black men killing young black men. And the Runnymede trust complains too many black people are being stopped and searched... Travellers are probably the most difficult and truculent section of society, disowning education, moving across the country, ignoring laws and sadly, many are often reliant on crime. They have a terrible reputation around here in Sussex for rural crime.Yet the Runnymede Trust seems to be saying it's all our fault that their kids' educational achievements are falling behind normal white kids. You can take a horse to water... Here's some more reading for you - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-57558746
Are you gonna watch ‘Uprising’ tonight Strolls ? Looks really good and will show for sure how racist Britain was in those days….and hopefully might show how far we’ve come since then (though I somehow doubt it)
It's reporting a study by the Runnymede Trust, as did every mainstream medium at the time. I selected the Metro because it's owned by the Daily Mail and thought it might get more credence from the hard of thinking than if I posted the exact same article from the Guardian. It' the study that's important, not who's reporting it.
No one is saying racism doesn’t exist, it can of course never be eradicated due to the fact some people will always hate others for some reason or other…be it race, religion or sexual preference. However I agree with Goldie, it’s definitely not the racist hell pit right now that some may want us to believe. Now if you think that makes me a racist by saying it (and disagreeing with BLM) then go ahead…I’ve had a whole lot worse. Best one was being accused of being no better than a slave owner and my Mrs being compared to a slave who I had raped to have my mixed race kids…..of course they wouldn’t have the bollox to say it to my face but I found it mildly upsetting when I saw what they had said.
You doubt that we've made progress or doubt that I'll watch it? I wasn't aware of it, when is it on? Of course we've made massive progress but that's not a reason for complacency, or to pretend that we no longer have a problem. We are slipping back.
Neither…I doubt it will show how far we’ve come is what I meant. It’s a 3 parter on BBC1 I think at 9pm. Starts off with the New Cross fire and ends with the ‘81 riots. Teally think you’ll enjoy it mate. And I haven’t seen anyone in here saying racism doesn’t exist. Just saying we all have to question why these things happen and we all have to confront our own issues. IMO, movements like BLM are precisely why we are slipping back
