The thing is Labour had 13 years in which they could have changed the voting system but enjoyed their thumping majorities so much they left it be. Any government with a majority is not going to give it up, Clegg had the chance in 2010 but for whatever reason didn't force the issue. Until we have an election gridlock there will never be a change...

Don't forget the Lib Dems *did* negotiate a refendum on moving from FPTP to (I think?) the Alternative Vote system.

I was talking to my in laws about this the other day and they had forgotten about this to the extent they absolutely refused to believe it happened, even when I pulled up the results online!

Damp squib partly as AV is such a bad system (imo).

I'm actually more concerned about this clown getting in than another 4 years of Trump!.

Given the pretty woeful choice on offer, it might be that the best thing to hope for from the 3rd is that one party wins the White House and the other has a majority in the Senate and/or HoR. Significantly limit the (domestic) power of whichever of the two wins.

sound words as usual.

Remember when Starmer was ridiculed for suggesting a 2 week circuit breaker lockdown..., oh

Oh god, all our SAGE experts are out today.

So did or did Starmer not call for a circuit breaker lock down when the figures were rising sharply? Was he mocked? Was it called sniping from the sidelines by certain people? Would any sort of lockdown not have been sensible to fit in with half term? Isn’t a double length lockdown not going to cost the economy substantially more?

Johnson and the Torys have acted too late again.

Stop talking Rubbish. You would be the first to knock them if the economy went bust. Your type is all the same, just blame them for whatever they do. I have listened to enough experts on TV (who are experts and not some keyboard warrior) to understand that they have a delicate balance. As for Mr. Hindsight who just plays for political points... I think it's best if he keeps a low profile after this week's news about Labour.

You don’t need to be a member of SAGE to see England has ****ed it.
I thought Watford Von Crap would be shadowing. So we ****ed it? so I guess many others have. Just listened to French News saying Macron has as well? Italy is rioting and Spain wants a vote of no confidence in the government.
Once again a few keyboard experts (who just dislike the government) are not really the people to listen to. Sorry, Watford with all due respect I would rather listen to Valance and Whitty than 'Fred on a footy forum'.

right here are the facts Starmer called for a circuit breaker before this, so no hindsight as has been pointed out you should be calling it foresight, Starmer’s suggestion would have cost the economy substantially less than the current solution

Anything anyone does that criticised the absolute **** show that we have currently is classed as political point scoring to you, even though it would have caused less damage.

oh why are you replying in blue text Ellers?
