Because they believe it is easy to deflect attention away from the incompetence of the chosen one by harping on about someone who is the bogeyman for all right thinking decent folk what vote for all that's good. Starmer doesn't give a toss. He knows that they can waste as much time and energy as they like because more sensible voters will look at Johnson and say " Why does that fat man have that silly hair?" and then follow it up with "Why does he talk suck bollocks? That man on the other side knows what he is doing."

Johnson is getting major stick over the lack of action over possible Russian interference in the EU referendum. If there really had been 'behind the scenes' investigations, wouldn't he say so (without giving details)? Or indeed, wouldn't the government have made the Select Committee aware?

He was approached about his role because of his language skills so has a very specialist role

Ah ok, your original post mentioned the Select Committee and therefore gave the impression that you were referring to the Russia report. A little misleading.

NHS Slaps Down Layla’s Exaggerated Malnourishment Figures
LibDem leadership candidate Layla Moran attempted to make a splash in the Guardian earlier this month, with a tale of extraordinary numbers of malnourished children living in Britian. Layla’s figures were enthusiastically written up by the Guardian, claiming “Almost 1,000 under-16s with malnutrition were admitted as inpatients to Cambridge University hospitals NHS foundation trust alone”. Except this simply wasn’t true. Not even close to true.Late last week Cambridge University Hospitals felt compelled to issue a statement slapping down Layla’s figures…
“The correct number of young patients admitted between January 2015 and January 2020 is 33, and not 915 as has been reported. This has understandably caused considerable concern to many.”
Far from Layla’s claim that 915 malnourished children admitted to Cambridge University Hospitals, in reality the true number was actually 33 in the last 66 months. 6 a year is of course 6 too many. Layla’s figures however were an exaggeration of some 2780%. Almost as forensic as Sir Keir…

It just amuses me that those who supported Corbyn - for whom the Russians could do no wrong - now come out and say, why are the Tories protecting us from these terrible Russians?
I'm no apologist for Boris. He can be effective when he pulls his finger out, but too often he's lazy and doesn't master the detail - which is why a sharp lawyer like Kier Starmer will take points off him at PMQT. I'd have no problem if Boris stepped down. Sunak would be my choice for replacement at the moment, but he hasn't been fully tested yet.
Or is it that Russia Today aren't interested in interviewing politicians from an opposition that has been in total disarray?
How would you define threat ? If by their actions in foreign countries causing the UK to be seen as a legitimate target by terrorists, then yeah I can see the US being a ‘threat’ to the UK......but an actual ‘threat’ seems a bit silly......unless I’m missing something
