you would have to have thought, that ALL politicians regardless of party, would have been working together to try to eliminate this threat to "our" way of life. Yes it is an unprecedented situation the world finds itself in, but pointless point scoring isn't getting anyone anywhere.
I'm yet to truly witness any point scoring. Scrutiny and questions yes and rightly so considering.

No one has said it is. It’s fair to say with the info available that we’ve made more mistakes than just about anyone else. What grates on me is how immodest our lot are. They’re presiding over utter carnage after their nonsense half-hearted strategy didn’t keep numbers down early on and they speak as if we should be grateful.
I think that is unfair. They all seem very upset about this and are trying to deal with it. They are a very inexperienced lot of MPs who have been thrown into the biggest crisis this country has had in our lifetimes. They are politicians and not scientists. They rely on help from these people but sadly even that seems to be politically motivated ‘King’s alternative meeting last week’. I knew 6 weeks ago he had a beef with the government. However after this they will be very experienced in their jobs and hopefully quickly get things back to some sort of normality, whatever that is now.

Theres mistakes (plenty of them) there have been loads of lies, more than enough misleading statistics and figures for anyone, despite political allegiance, to at the very least question and scrutinise. It's not political point scoring, that is a pathetic argument. Its concern as to why our country, despite the benefit of witnessing other countries tragedies, has one of the highest death rates in the world!!!

So you are an expert on other nations handling of this? You would be surprised how other countries seem to be having problems as well. It’s not just us that have made mistakes.

Where did I say I was an expert? I only have to look at the figires to see we're way ahead of almost every other nation when it comes to deaths and infections which tells me something isn't quite right. Tell me, honestly and without your blue-tinted glasses on, are you happy with how this government has handled things?

Just out of interest, for those who do back the government on their handling, yet say they have made mistakes, then what are the mistakes you are referring to?

for me (and I'm not backing anyone on here) the two biggest mistakes for me are
1) not locking down the boarders quicker. We are a transport hub which in itself means people can pass through spreading the illness without even realising they have it
2) and with my work hat on: PPE. Why the hell are PPE levels not checked, monitored to ensure that they are in date and fit for purpose. Then ensuring that your staff on the front line are provided with the equipment.

Cheers Ninj. I appreciate all opinions and always try keep an open mind. I find it difficult when told one thing, to then find in the next sentence it was bullshit not to question stuff.

Yeah apologies SM that did sound a bit... what I was going to say was that I have been reading up on some of our European neighbours and they all seem to have had problems of their own. Emperor Macron has been slated by doctors regarding PPE and deaths... on that note they still haven’t recorded deaths at homes. In Germany Some critics have complained about lockdown ( they also had problems with PPE). And on that note they still don’t register deaths like us, or blood test after death. So the reason they have low figure is because Covid doesn’t always get put down even if in body. If we did that we would have a very different figure. Italy/Spain/Russia all had big problems. I still say that something is weird about Covid and infected countries. But that’s for another day. The best we can hope for is that the government Learn by some slow mistakes made. As for honesty of the government I have and will be vocal if they cock up on something. This consistent daily bitch from some achieves nothing. There will be an inquiry and probably Hancock will be the head that rolls as will some of the scientific mob. For me they have made mistakes but not as bad as some are saying.

I dont think the science is wrong, more the people implementing it.

Right, we haven't got track and trace up and running, we haven't yet reached 100,000 daily tests yet, we haven't got a vaccine, we haven't got an antibody test for general use, the 'R' number has just gone back up, we have the 2and highest death rate in the world, inbound passengers with still no screening, still a shortage of PPE, people still losing lives in their hundreds. Hey let's open schools though!

The science said not to screen people until June unless they’re Irish or French in which case never.

It's a standard part of a risk assessment in any job and would also need to be updated in the event of any significant change affecting such a job. That's the law...
