Starmer is in a no-lose situation at present. Just wait until it comes to something other than Coronavirus and let us see how Mr. Charasmatic does?

Not really mate. I have always said he should be beating the government on this. Easy to sit on the sidelines and complain when things go wrong? The government is in a lose/lose situation. He doesn't have any answers. Lord Heseltine's comments were spot on (even though I don't normally agree with him). Boris will bring him down a peg or two when other issues need debating. Besides Starmer has his own problems going on in the Labour party to worry about... the 'commie Corbyn mob' is already undermining him. Come back and discuss when they debate Brexit and see how 'Mr remain/2nd referendum' gets on? I know how I would shut him up. Until then mate I will be joining others by giving this thread a rest. Sadly it has turned an unsavory corner and has lost its banter and replaced by hate.

Thought Starmer was excellent in how his questions contained real substance to the issues. Boris bumbling through the answers was enough for starmer to realise his points had hit home. Very clever

I’m still not that sure of Starmer, from a Lefty point of view......think he’ll give the Tories a proper run for their money and like Blair, probably win an election.
Just can’t trust him after what that other one did to the party.

I'd be very surprised if he won the next election, he needs a radical overhaul of the party - not what you want to hear I know, but the in-fighting within Labour will stop them from winning. The nearest he'll possibly get may well be in a coalition, but to overturn the huge majority the Tories have and the way they have hoodwinked the nation is going to take some doing IMO.

To be honest mate, I’ve finished with Labour now. Not the sort of party that I would vote for and set to become more of a ‘Tory lite’ than a true socialist party. I think that’s what might give them an edge...especially as the Tories ain’t now gonna be able to cut the taxes that so many who voted them thought they were gonna do.
I’ll stick to TUSC or WPGB......not a chance of getting anywhere but at least I’ve stuck to my principles

Starmer obliterated Boris at PMQs today. Strong balance of being polite but forensic. Short, sharp, damning questions. The silence in the HoC suits him, and it will be interesting to see how he does against the normal wall of noise. Also not coming up with memorable soundbites, so while he might make Boris squirm in the debates, there isn't a 'one line' for the media to repeat ad nauseam.

As you say, it will be more difficult for Starmer when all the baying backbenchers are back, but they tend to grow less noisy when they can see that their man or woman is losing the argument. As for one-liners, I thought Starmer's retort when Johnson said that now was not the time for comparisons with other countries was, if not particularly funny, a pretty good put-down.

It was very good. I'm thinking more of Cameron's "you were the future once" line, or Blair on Major, "weak, weak, weak" etc. Something that will stick in people's minds.
