No because the circumstances are totally different on one hand you have a lot of the people who have lived here since they were small children having Britain as the only home they' could ever remember, whilst with the majority of the Poles sent back to Poland, grew up, and have spent the majority of their life in Poland. Whilst there will definitely be some exceptions to this, they have to be assessed on an individual basis. You already knew all of this, and no it's not xenophobia.

Dear
@DavidLammy
, I'm a Brit living in South Korea for the past decade, married with children. The minute I touch any drugs, become violent or otherwise break the law I'll be out on my ear. The Korean government isn’t racist; it just puts the safety of its own citizens first.

Brit, resident in Philippines, living happily under exactly the same conditions. I have to an annual check in to validate my status, which includes and criminal records check. If I've screwed up, I could be kicked out.
Not racist, just fair.

even if you left nz as a five year old and have no family or friends here the aussies will deport you

Deportation
Deportation is the process used for permanent residents and certain New Zealand citizens who are not Australian citizens. You can be deported if:

  • You have been convicted of certain serious crimes and received a prison sentence; or
  • You are considered to be a threat to the security of Australia. Before a deportation order is made on these grounds, you will be given the opportunity to appeal against your adverse security assessment.
