German state of Saxony want to bring in an EU law making burning the EU flag punishable with 3 years imprisonment. Chilling reminder of the past
Can we get this into context please ? According to paragraph 104 of the German law book the burning or public destruction of any foreign flag, or other sovereign symbol of another country is punishable - why should this be different for symbols of the EU ? You will also find that the maximum punishment of 3 years would only be if the act was accompanied with other serious disturbances of the peace, otherwise it would just be a fine. Why are you trying to discredit both Germany and the EU through bringing in false, or misleading, information in this way ? Or is it just that you will hurl anything at Germany which you can ?

No, I'm reporting verbatim what is in the English press today. Take it up with them

Still, a flag is a bit of material isn't it?

As you say a flag is just a piece of rag. Having said that the text was intended as being a poke at Germany and the EU. whereas the same law would apply if the Union Jack were burned in a public place in Germany - it applies to all flags. This law is not unusual - try burning a United States flag in a public place in the USA and see what happens. The problem is that flag burning is normally accompanied by some other sort of public disturbance. I think that if you actually started a fire with anything on the streets of London then it would be punished, whatever the object being burned, so this law is not so strange.

The rest can be bought with a crate of Carling.
I think you’ll find that’s not true either, why do you keep bleating that all Nigel Farage supporters are either doddering old racist fools or lager swilling racist hooligans, time to change your outdated demographic and realise that his supporters now come from a wide variety of political backgrounds and just want Brexit, which was democratically voted for and has been blocked at every turn by remoaner loser MP’s and people that cannot accept democracy.

It was blocked by the ERG, mate. No point getting into the illegality and glaring flaws of the referendum itself.

The Brexit Party don’t have policies. It’s just a re-branded BNP/UKIP. Anyone who honestly wants a Brexit Party MP representing them is nothing more than a Brexit cultist.

Please post proof that the Brexit Party is made up of ex BNP members.
And the Brexit party have the only policy they need, TO LEAVE THE CORRUPT E.U.

Ooh capitals.

I didn’t say they were ex-members. I said it’s a re-brand of the same ideology. Again, we’d have left the “CORRUPT E.U.” if the right wing of the Tory party hadn’t decided it wasn’t an economically damaging enough Brexit for their agenda. Nothing the loser/snowflakes/remoaners could have done about it. But that’s parliamentary democracy- the type we apparently want more of.

The brexit party didn't need policy for the eu elections
Parliamentary democracy is great as long as parliament can do the job they are paid to do and not give anything hard to the great unwashed to sort (or not) out for them

Parliament would’ve kicked Brexit well into touch. Every decision since Cameron promised a referendum has been aimed at saving the party. That’s gone well.

Mate you got sucked in by an inflammatory headline. Cologne gave a thorough explanation. It happens.

OK, lets see what part of this you disagree with, Watford:

In Germany, if you burn a national flag you can be arrested and face a fine or maximum 3 years imprisonment (if accompanied by a breach of the peace)

Germany want to introduce the same laws into the EU.

These are authoritarian laws, not enacted by the UK because we believe in freedom of expression
