I did say earlier that there were so good French units however as a collective they have never come across as a top fighting force. I will also add that they do quite a bit of stuff with our boys but to say we are somehow inferior is wide of the mark.

You're right in that the British military has suffered due to a lack of investment etc. However, they are still widely regarded as among the best trained, disciplined and effective military World wide.
The French Air Force is top notch, but their Army and Navy rarely get a mention among the World's best.
France's best unit by a long, long way are the GIGN. They are a counter-terrorism unit attached to the French police, but are basically military. This unit is widely respected among our Special Forces. The SAS are always top of any list of the World's most elite force and nearly all other Special Forces worldwide base their operations on the British SAS. If I was caught up in a terrorist attack, the SAS are the number one SF I'd want coming to help.
US Navy Seals are also very, very good.
Apart from the GIGN, French Special Forces aren't in the same league (The French Foreign Legion are very good, but they're not classified as Special Forces).
In today's World, small elite forces are very, very important and Britain is number one in this regard.

We all like to pontificate about one country's military being superior to another's. The truth is none have been tested in a real war against a real enemy as opposed to a gaggle of freedom fighters, lone wolves and tin pot dictators assorted conscripts and I for one am happy that we have never had be tested in that way on either side of the Channel.

I was at the Theipval memorial yesterday and I was humbled by the many thousands of British people that made the trip to remember. I was also overcome by the many French that thanked and respected us.

Amusing that people are getting worked up about Corbyn wearing an anorak to Remembrance Sunday when in 1986 he led a demonstration against it. At least give him credit for progress.
To be fair, AFA (the far left) would mobilise every year to confront the NF (the far right) who were given the right to march to the Cenotaph.
Again, to be fair, men like John Tyndall were allowed to march to the cenotaph, even after having known Nazi sympathies exposed.....there were extremes on both sides in those days so seems an injustice to highlight just the one.

Historically we have a lot to be very proud of but our generation has certainly failed the future generations. I see no confusion on my part for how our country has handled the Brexit affair and I also believe I would be amongst the current majority that feels contempt for British Political Affairs

Brexit: Theresa May calls special cabinet meeting as draft deal agreed

A cabinet source has told BBC the text has been agreed at a technical level by officials from both sides after intensive talks this week.
The Sun reported that every minister was being asked to see the PM for one-to-one talks on Tuesday evening.
The future of the Irish border has been the last major outstanding issue to be settled in the negotiations.
Earlier, ministers said they would publish a "full legal statement" before MPs vote on any final agreement.
The undertaking was given as the government faced near certain defeat in the Commons over whether to publish the legal advice it gets about the terms of the UK's withdrawal.
Cabinet ministers were briefed on the state of the negotiations earlier on Tuesday, at which they were told a "small number of outstanding issues" remained to be sorted.
The BBC's chief political correspondent Vicki Young said individual cabinet ministers were likely to be shown the full draft text this evening as a prelude to a full meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
She said they would have to decide whether they could support it, and if not, whether to resign from cabinet.
In another development, ambassadors from the remaining 27 EU states will meet in Brussels on Wednesday.
The prime minister has been under pressure from both Brexiteers and pro-EU MPs as she tries to seal a deal with the EU on the terms for the UK's exit on 29 March 2019.
