I'm sure there would have been, and still are, many inclined to the same view. You could also argue that by guillotining him in the street it may have garnered further support from sympathetic right-wing nationalists, and possibly even turned him into a martyr and figurehead for further terrorist atrocities.
It is indeed a difficult conundrum, but summarily executing opponents, (even with the justification of a fair trial) rarely results in fewer people being attracted to the cause unless it is in a state controlled environment where the rule of law is based on fear and any dissent is eradicated. In the case of ISIS you might probably argue that to achieve martyrdom is their aim - and in doing so they seek to attract more people to their perceived cause.

I've been listening to the radio (bbc) since 4pm, solidly through until now. 8.5 hours radio. The story has been mentioned 2 or 3 times half way through news headlines, but otherwise it's all knife and gun crime and 'should we have a curfew?'
Kids dying is appalling. I am yet to hear anyone talk about long term solutions and approaches to these problems, it's all reactionary and emotional.
But, no, nothing from government about false information leading to the provoking of the nuclear power that is Russia.

No. Athletes have competed as independents if their country wasn't competing for some reason (sanctions, boycotts, or not being affiliated to the IOC) but nobody has ever competed being stateless. I'm not saying that people don't ever lose their nationality, but never from the UK or other countries that follow international law.
I think there probably is anti-Semitism problem within Labour, but it has been massively exaggerated and over-reported in the media because opponents of Corbyn (both Tory and Labour) see it as an opportunity to attack and weaken him. The BBC has been obsessed with the issue.
What is the more important story - Corbyn attending a passover feast hosted by a Jewish group that is anti-Israel, or our Government jumping to conclusions and then lying to us about the Salisbury poisonings?

For some reason, I can't download Nines and Woody's tweets, but for me, nothing has changed. I never thought there'd be a smoking Russian gun on this one. The case is the wealth of circumstantial evidence. And something, some information that May disclosed to the EU member states, caused them to change their attitude from prudent cynicism to conviction that Russia is behind this. The public won't be told what that is, at least at present. After the lies that Blair and Campbell told about Iraq, the British public are deeply cynical to anything produced by the British Security services despite the fact that MI5 and the police have a fantastic record on foiling Islamic plots. I trust them on this one, if only because, after Livinenko, there is no other feasible explanation than Russian scullduggery.
Well may has already lied or badly misled us. She told us that porton down told her it was the riskiest when actually they never said that (well it's what they are saying)

Boris Johnson apparently said that Porton Down had confirmed the nerve agent came from Russia. No doubt he'll comment on that during today
You can't see mine Goldie because the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has deleted it. It stated on March 22nd ... That Porton Down had confirmed the the nerve agent was Novichok and that it was produced * in Russia.
*As the tweet has disappeared I can't recall its exact wording, so 'produced' may be incorrect. It might have been 'made' or 'originated' or something of that ilk but the gist of it is correct.
I've found a screenshot of the tweet, this could be the end of BJ but he'll probably bumble his way out of it ...

Agree, Boris has got some explaining to do. For someone academically bright, he is incredibly loose with his language at times. Details are not his forte, which is concerning given his ministerial position.
