At the same time, I agree with Farage that it feels like a huge two fingers to almost 17.5 million people who voted to leave. I can't help but suspect that we may never leave and the politicians will somehow manage to back-track on the vote to leave. The public will get so heartilly sick of the whole thing that we will simply stay in eventually and no one will put up much of a fuss.
I'd have accepted it if we'd just walked away, as you know. I now wonder if my vote will ever count for much at all.

As for May...................she has disappointed me so much since becoming PM and she is a completely busted flush. All she does is back-track.

It would take a lot for me to vote Tory next time, but I don't see a viable alternative (for me) either! It's all rather depressing.

Thanks Col. This is what has mystified me most over the last few months, the government seems intent on pissing everyone, both leavers and Remainers, off, and I think they have been given an easy ride by the Leavers. I think it would have been possible to go for a complete break with some dignity and clarity with the Europeans (of course in my view the consequences would be bad, but that’s beside the point, we had the vote). The lack of competence is terrifying, and the lack of unity, direction and drive among the cabinet, whomall seem to be driven by self interest is a betrayal of the country. That it took May two and a half hours to sell a pretty bland speech to people she picked for their jobs, a full 15 months after the broad direction should have been set is shocking to me.

I’m in the same boat re voting. A vestigial loyalty to an idea of the party long since dead pushed me towards Labour last time despite a visceral dislike of Corbyn and his ilk dating back to the early 1980s. I knew I would regret it at the time and I won’t make that mistake again.

I find that I'm more and more voting against rather than for. I used to passionately want a Labour government and then when I finally got one, it turned out not to be what I thought I had voted for. I now just passionately want anything but Tory. I have voted Liberal, Green and TUSC in various meaningless protests.

Somewhat hypothetically, but if there were a bunch of British black cab drivers in London, but then suddenly a whole load of (say) Johnny Foreigner types turned up calling themselves Oober, but you decided to stick with the British cabbies, are you one of them raysist sorts as a consequence? I dunno.

Well yes, that's the Farage perspective isn't it? My problem is more with the exploitative business model.

But you called him a star-star-star-star....for the business model or his preference to support the incumbent service?
 
Uber is a great service here in NY but the drivers are the same drivers who drive yellow cabs. Thats not the same in London where the Black cabs are driven by well trained drivers while Uber cars are driven by people who have no idea where there going. The only problem is the black cabs have had a monopoly for so long they all go home at 6.

I sincerely hope the U.K. can create a new identity but I fear it will require a massive shift in beliefs
I see the EU as primarily a great success but fully understand the frustration of the people’s will which I think will be shown as a frustration against our own U.K. system

History shows us as being great at a lot of things but those days I believe were finished a long time ago

We are a nation of moaners who have lost the ethic of responsibility... it’s always other countries fault or other people never us. We live in a blame culture and are left with nothing but words

I don’t see myself as pathetic as I care about our country it’s just I do not believe in the people and the belief it can be rebuilt ... there are too many things that cannot be deinvented

I am never scared of new as I work in a business that invents new in order to sell it to the mainstream. World business practices are not just change it is what it is and it’s centred always around money. The U.K. has to compete inside that and now as a stand alone nation but with a lot less money and maybe a lot less prospects especially when the result was 52/48

The leavers have a big job on their hands trying to convince the remains that they were right all along why should we pay as you have nothing in place I can even believe in

I myself cannot live with that and just can’t believe it’s good for my sons and the next generation The UK is so far behind in everything

I am out and was anyway as I live in France now which is changing itself but nowhere near what the U.K. has to do a lot
i prefer to remain an European who only uses the U.K. to get things like money and goods when I need them

I wasn't calling you pathetic Paul, rather the idea that the EU should punish any Country for choosing to leave.
I fully respect your views on both Britain and France, whilst completely disagreeing with just about all of them.

I'm at the Burton game today, so I do agree with you about wanting us to smash them.

Spot on, Uber the company seems fairly despicable, but the service (never used in the U.K., but a godsend elsewhere, especially the US where the ‘normal’ cabs are horrible) is great and in my experience the drivers good.
