Khan was always going to happen and it was always going to be met with the fume it has.

    Southgate, not for me Clive.

Kevin Sinfield should have got one.

Starmer has gone on record saying that he wants to protect the privacy of his children above all else and wants them to lead normal lives.

In this spirit he pushes to the front of a three hour queue to ride some kind of toboggan thing in Madeira to let his children go first. Presumably because that’s ‘normal’, and doesn’t focus any ttention on his kids.

It’s not privilege though its about ‘security’, his staff say they ‘had no option’. Well, they did:
    - don’t go on the ride, regretfully admit that being children of the PM does bring some downsides, or
    - get someone else to take them. Starmer didn’t even go on the ride with them, just dropped them off and was driven to the bottom to pick them up.

What a tone deaf, self centred twat this bloke is. I feel sorry for his kids having such an unpopular man as their father, but no matter what he says he prioritised being PM over their ‘normal’ lives so tough titty.

A perfect example of this was his 'requiring' an executive box at Arsenal, when Sunak was PM of a seriously unpopular Tory government he was happy to sit in the stand at Southampton. Starmer's lack of self-awareness is embarrassing...

I like my leaders being kept safe.
I like them having occasional holidays to recharge and be with their family
It’s a sh1t job leading any country, it seems more so now than ever.
There are just too many compromises to be made.
Would you want him going to work on a bus every day like the ordinary man just to prove a point.

As a country we voted to pay to try to reflate the economy and spend on public services.
We have to pay up and let them try their plan A

At least plan A stops companies hiving off profit abroad and not paying it in this country.
If someone works in the UK they have to be paid in the UK so we catch their fair share.

We did this in the old days but did admittedly have exceptions for several industries

Sure this got debunked at the time. Starmer has and pays for a season ticket he can’t realistically use, as much for the fans around him and the club itself as him. Would be a logistical nightmare. Sunak wasn’t going through the turnstile and queuing for a pie while pretending to give a **** about football for five minutes.

Now most on here will know my view on Starmer.....

However, I don't have, any problem with him having a holiday as long as it's not a freeby, anyone know if Lord Ail has a pad on Madeira?

Where the optics look bad is his timing of things and this nonsense about giving his kids a "normal" up bringing..... New Years Day in Funchal is one of the busiest tourist days of the year....there were 7 cruise ships in port yesterday, somewhere in the region of 12000 additional tourists, 3 of those ships were full of Brits doing touristy things like queing for a toboggan ride.... why choose that time to do it? Plus if you want your kids brought up normal, why not let them queue like everyone else with there mother, it's likely no one would have recognised them, that's normal..... instead they will be brought up to think that they can get special treatment simply because dad plays the security card.....

Anyone remember the outrage when Starmer said he would continue to have Friday night dinner at home with his family whenever possible? This is just another irrelevant sideshow issue.

It’s not about him having a holiday (although he can’t be really, as he hasn’t handed over control over to Angela Rayner). It’s about this ridiculous barging in to a queue. Bloke just hasn’t got any antenna and/or has **** advice. It’s like his ‘I’ve haven’t broken any rules’ about all the freebies. Yeah, might not be rampant corruption, but it’s just a **** impression.

Yeah, it’s mainly the anti Labour press who have reported this, but that doesn’t make it untrue, there is video on YouTube and apparently Starmer was booed by some of those waiting. It’s just **** judgement again.

Meanwhile, Streeting announces a commission into social care which won’t report until this parliament ends and Streeting is long gone. He claims they need this to ensure ‘cross party consensus’, and keeps on quoting the 1945 Labour government and the NHS, without recognising that the NHS was actually set up and functioning in 3 years and the government of the time used its massive majority - almost as big as Starmer’s - to get it done, whereas he’s aiming for a Commission to report on a National Care Service, not actually do anything, in more time. Of course it’s all about funding so actually Rachel Reeves will make the decisions. Appointing ‘plain speaking’ Louise Casey as the chair is a clever move though.

Yeah, I don't doubt that the Starmer queue-jump happened, but I wonder if we are being told the full story, or whether the whole incident is newsworthy in the first place.

Meanwhile, Trump, fresh from doing his best to depose Justin Trudeau, is now telling the UK to dismantle its wind turbines in the North Sea and his acolyte Musk is saying that King Charles should dissolve parliament and hold a general election, presumably hoping to get rid of Starmer and put Farage in charge.

    That's democracy for you.
